View Full Version : Liver Enzymes test

I had my liver enzymes tested after running The Drol and 2 weeks later my ALT is 68 and AST 38.

I was wondering who has had the liver enzymes checked and what did your show?

Also, I have always wondered how much of a difference weight lifting elevates liver ezymes.

Does anyone get their blood work done?

apex23, I posted the labs you mention on the Dr. B Life Extension forum as I share your question.

I would like to see what others labs look like...

ALT reference range = 5-40 IU/L

AST reference range = 8-40 IU/L

Your ALT is not significantly elevated.

Were those two the only out of range parameters.

Yeah, But my AST was in range according to the lab I used.

I believe it varies from lab to lab. I am obviously not worried, but just trying to learn as much about the liver.

It would be interesting to see what an alcoholics AST and ALT level ranges might be.

If you drink at all (you don't have to be alcoholic, for example how the French have wine with the evening meal), your ALT is going to be elevated and GGT shoots up.

There are other parameters with messed up liver enzymes that indicate alcoholism, like a larger mean cell volume and elevated IgA.

That is what we need.

ALT can be elevated from weight lifting alone and may not be connected with liver.

If you are running a cycles most important parameter to watch out is billirubin, GGT is another 100% liver specific indicator of liver problems.

yes, yes and yes.
hydration plays big roll in your values as well.
also, if you are training HEAVY with great intensity and/or over training, those are all stressors to.

Isn't it funny how Doctors do not know this!!

Some do.

You just have to find the right doctors.

My consultant has used me as a case study for elevated creatinine in grand rounds and last night at a conference.

How would you feel if every single person came into your place of work that you spent close to ten years studying to be able to do the job thought they knew more than you because they spent 10 minutes on the internet?

There is a vast amount of information to know to work in the medical field, doctors are not always going to remember every single thing.

I guess I do not know what my GGT is based on this lab work.

No they didn't do a GGT.

Really it is only necessary if alkaline phosphatase is elevated to determine if it is from liver or bone, or in suspected cases of alcoholism.

That is exactly right. Also, not to mention that simply taking in multivits can have the same effect on your liver. Not to the degree of 17aa compounds, but still has to be processed non the less. a level of 68 is nothing compaired to the levels of liver failure which are up well over 1000

γ-GT is actually a very important marker, maybe more important than SGOT and SGPT

that is quite normal report

your ALBUMIN/GLOBULIN RATIO elevated, have your been ill recently. If you are going to use GH, of some peptides like IGF1 LR3, it want work with such ALBUMIN/GLOBULIN RATIO
