I'm planning on my first physique show in November and could use some advice from the pros. I have an idea of what I need to work on, but could use an objective opinion. :dunno:

tammyp....thanks for responding, and thanks for the confirmation.....I was thinking the same....My strategy over the next month in a half is to slightly increase my frequency of working those muscle groups but really focusing on higher weight. Currently I'm working those groups once every five days, but am going to work them every 3-4 days. I'm getting enough macro nutrients evenly spaced throughout the day, but I think I do need to be resting a bit more than I am. I'll also be ramping up my cardio slightly. This is my plan going forward....your suggestions or general comments would be appreciated :)

You have a good back and abs are coming out nicely. Yes you need to blast your chest shoulders and arms for men's physique. Don't be afraid to ramp up that cardio. Good luck.

Thanks Jude.....The pictures I linked above are after a day of rest. I had a great chest/bis workout this morning....very heavy, (4-6) rep range to failure. Chest looks a lot better post workout...so do the shoulders. I'll be working hard on it till the show in November. Thanks for your input :) By the way, I'm from New Orleans and will be moving back there at the end of the year :) I'd love to meet some competitors when I'm there. Cheers,

I think you have the POTENTIAL to be a good fit for physique, but as it stands, Im very much in agreement with Tammy...You need a little more thickness in the upper body. Ive been very surprised at the shows Ive judged this year in the quality of the mens physique contestants...some were very much borderline bodybuilders...

I've been working hard to bring my chest, shoulders and bis up since I first posted this. I think they have filled out a bit, but after these shows that I'm doing, I'm going to try to put another 5 pounds of muscle on and will be eating like a ravenous dog.....Just wanted to keep you guys posted. Thanks again for your feedback :) I'll try to post a few pics while doing some MP poses right before the show. Ryan

Took 2nd place in my first men's physique competition this past weekend at the Lackland Classic here in Texas. This also qualified me for Team Universe next year. I was pleased with the result for being my first show. The only gap I believe I have is overall chest thickness, which you guys pointed out early on. I'll be working very hard on putting some more mass on these next few months. Thanks everyone for your feedback and constructive criticism. I'm going to keep this thing going full speed ahead :)

Good job on your first show. That being said I do not think your lower pec is lacking as much as upper pec development. Concentrate more on incline movements. Good luck in your future endevours.

Jeff,

Thanks for your comments.....The bench press has always been a weak lift for me. I have long arms (5'9.5" with a 6'2" wingspan) which maybe makes it more difficult to throw up big weight. I also have a very long sternum which gives me a lot of chest to fill out. I'm going to start incorporating more band/chain work to see if I can progressively increase my bench over the next couple of months. Hopefully this induces some major hypertrophy up top. I'll post some pics in a couple months. I've also been doing a lot more incline as of late. Thanks again for your comments.
