From what I've been reading, some research shows that vascular occlusion during light resistance training is much more beneficial for the trainee. According to the research, the method causes an elevation in local growth hormone accumulation and interleukin-6 and thus more muscle growth.
Personally, since I started using knee wraps, I've noticed a significant difference in my leg development (for the better obviously) and suspected there was a connection.
Also the studies done on this (at least what I came across) had the subjects train with low intensity. I suspect the reason for this is to use this method for old or injured individuals who cannot train with maximal resistance. But I perosnally suspect that training with high resistance and using the vascular occlusion method with yield better results than using the low intensity one.
What do you guys think about this? Any one try this?
