Hard hittin to rock, like Branch.

But, I think it depends on the guy. Not everyone can/should pose like that.

yeah , depends on the guy and the physique. I like a variety, but do favour the dance moves and body poppin robot

I like a mix of slow and classic and hard and quick. The slow part to show off the beauty of the physique, and then hard to show off the power and strength of the physique.

I think its largely dependent on the physique. I prefer entertaining routines, so basically, no just sloppy repetitive posing. for example,

"most muscular to side bicep to side tricep to most muscular to side bicep to side tricep to most muscular to side bicep to side tricep to most muscular to side bicep to side tricep to most muscular to side bicep to side tricep"

I really like all of them. I think it would be boring if every everyone posed the same way.

kai to dirty diana is one of my favorites ;)

I personally don't care much for the Kai Green type of posers. I don't know about you but I don't care to feel like I am at a male strip club. I am already at a show watching dudes in underwear, no need to make it worse.

In addition to that I feel like I have seen it all before and they never hold the poses long enough.

These guys push heavy metal and should pose to heavy metal or something more upbeat than slow ballads.

Definitely none of today's competitors.
Posing used to be fabulous in the days of Bob Paris, Frank Zane and Lee Labrada etc.

Today's Pros have a lot to learn.
Posing routines are a forgotten art, today's routines are just crap.

I like the classic approach but don't mind if some other creativity is inserted. I don't like when poses are not held long enough and we are not able to appreciate the full development of the physique.

I find the hip hop soundtracked male stripper moves horrible, and make me slightly embarrassed to call myself a bodybuilding fan. It makes it clearly obvious why this sport is no longer mainstream, as it comes across schmoey as hell. the classic routines that made the guys look like statues and epic were entertaining and impressive. Seeing greased up guys girate to R Kelly is more than I can take.

If the Olympia WAS on TV, can you imagine being with your friends and you stopping on that channel to watch it? They would all tape their butt cheeks together. I don't even see how anyone would wanna get up there and "pose" like that. Disgusting.

Its odd when a huge beast tries to pose to a romantic R&B song, doesn't mesh well... I prefer a fun routine like Kai's- its amazing to watch him, being so ripped, dancing and hitting mandatories

As long as they don't fucking dance.

But mainly a nice flowing routine with good transition between poses. And hold each pose for longer than a microsecond.

Dennis wolf is a very good poser! I saw him pose at the NY PRO he displays his body very well with slow and deliberate poses!

Yeah, I have to tell you i have actually seen a guy do something really similar to the most muscular, to side tricep to side bicep over and over again out of shape, without an ounce of muscle and in white posing trunks that made him look like he was wearing a diaper.

I'd like to say that it was funny, but it was a mixture of feeling shame for the guy and hilarity..

I did not vote because the categories are too cut and dry. I enjoy a routine that combines the best of creativity in posing and transitions to poses. Also, combining slow/classic with hard/fast. Routines that have both are dynamic, like music. I am not such a big fan of dancing as long as it is brief and is only used as a transition to a pose. There's not much excitement in dancing since nobody really can come up with something that has not been done before. (Robot, etc) Bottom line for me is that you still need to hit poses to display the physique. Some of those poses should done in a unique way or at least transitioned into differently. I think it's difficult to be creative in this portion of the competition. But, at this point, the posing routine is where a good deal of the art is displayed in the art/sport of bodybuilding.

We need more Ed Corney-esque posing routines, they were fantastic.

KingDeathMetal
02-13-2009, 01:14 PM
If it's going to be classic, I don't want to hear love-making R&B music in the background. I'd rather hear classical music or something. Sorry, but it kind of puts out a gay vibe, no offense to anyone who does that! I like Markus Ruhl's routine that was done to Rammstein at the '06 Olympia. Classic routines are awesome though, but sometimes the choice of music can take away from what's on stage, at least for me.

I like when the routines are creative, fun, and can keep my attention instead of putting me to sleep. Ofcourse, they need to hit all the mandatories, but it should all flow nicely and transition nicely between poses. I prefer more upbeat music....don't really care what genre...whether it's, rap, rock, country, or WHATEVER...as long as I don't drift off to neverland!
