There are quite a few men and women in here that have sons now eligible as a MASTER.

Are we happy with this? Me?....don't give a rats ass. Silly men in board shorts and 14 year old bikini babies can get a Pro Card....why not? Chit I would love a shot at that over 70 card this comming year.

I can understand a over 40 and above Masters Pro but 35? Wonder why their dropping the age thing? Many of the top pros are going strong at 35. Interesting.

35 is still Prime tme. Not Masters in my opinion. I was still gaining in buckets at 35:: don't see the need.

Bev & Steve started offering pro cards to the winners of the new masters men's categories (bodybuilding & physique) last summer. Also, Jon Lindsay instituted masters physique at age 35 in some of his shows this year. Some of the regional shows (like Southern States) also put masters at age 35. Gary stood to lose competitors to these other promoters. Since physique is going into the lineup for next year at the Teen, Collegiate & Masters Nationals, this appeared to be the right time to bring masters there into alignment with the age of other promoters. Since Gary got the pro card for the 35 age category, he is able to anchor the new age range for the men. Over 35 has been the age for women's masters all along. (Although it's not on his website yet, I heard that Gary also has pro card approval for masters MPD & WPD next year.)

Just heard that the over-35 pro card for men is approved for the North Americans in 2012. Also, Gary will allow crossovers from over-40 to over-35 if the competitor wants to pay both fees, but the competitor can only qualify for a pro card in one division.
