Wow anyone who has never done any overhead squats should try it once.I did these for a while training with my son for football and the first day I could barely do just the bar.

I don't get it? Crossfitters will call it "Functional" fitness but when have I EVER had to hold a weight above my head and squat down with it ??

Plus it looks way more dangerous than a plain old squat? Like I said I don't get it.

That's not functional training, all though some may try to use it as such. It's designed as part of Oly training. When Oly lifters perform the snatch they typically end up in an ass to grass squat position with the bar overhead and have to stand with it, and this is where the exercise comes into play.
