Another question for you seasoned beast. Now that im focusing primarily on powerlifting its showing me some of weaknesses. I need some advice on how to build a monster grip.

Anybody ever used a grenade ball for cable work? What's the best size to start with?

I use captains of crush grippers a few times a week, this has significantly improved my grip for dead lifts and bb shrugs. I'm starting to implement the hook grip as well. Seems hook grip is the only way to go raw.

Hook grip all day. And chalk. Throw away any fucking straps you own.

Why are straps bad?

For improving grip strength? They are the worst.

D'oh. I just saw the last post and totally spaced out on the fact that grip strength was the point of this thread, lol. But that's why they call me spacey... :p

If you are only going to do powerlifting, and no strongman, then I would not waste time with grip aids and forearm specific work. Learn how to do hook grip and be done with it. You will still gain some forearm strength by doing rows, pulldowns, hammer curls, etc, but i wouldnt bother with grippers and other stuff.

Exactly. Hook grip then heavy rows with just chalk will make you have strong enough grip to pull more weight than your body will let you.
