Competition and Federations

So who all is actually training for a specific competition? I thought I found one but a friend of mine said the USAPL is a sucky federation because all there rules. He told me to check out APF. I'm from SC so theres some SPF events around too. What are you guys thoughts? This will be my first meet. Im shoting to compete around end of March or later.

I got out of powerlifting years ago just becasue of this. when I began, there was two american feds (3 if you count drug free) and now there are more than I can count. I think the main differences are simple:

Raw
Equipped
Drug Free

if you are testing the waters to see how you fair in competition, then find soemthing local no matter the org. if you are looking for one to work your way up the ratings and see how you fair in a more competitive pool, then look at a regional or national level show.
