got a question about elyptical verse a treadmill. common sense would tell me that a treadmill would burn more calories because its obviously harder than an elyptical (atleast for me). but in a 45 minute span using a elyptical it says something 500 calories burnt vs like 200 something on a treadmill jogging and fast paced walking in increments.

maybe this is a dumb question i just wanted some conformation.

I never go by the readouts on those machines. It's too generic and doesn't take your individualities into it's equations. Go by your heart rate. As long as you get it into your target heartrate zone and you keep it there, you'll be fine. I use both so that I don't get too bored.

Gotta go with an elyptical over a treadmill. Unless you're going between jog and run speeds (which your joints LOVE on a treadmill), I always get more winded/sweat like a pig, doing a medium walking pace on an elyptical.

If you have a stair-climber at your gym, that would be my main choice, or at least another machine in a cardio rotation to do.

IT DOESN'T MATTER! As long as your heart rate is where it should be, the machine is irrelivent. However, if for one reason or another a certain machine gets your heart rate to where is needs to be faster, or with better ease, this might be a reason to say one piece of cardio equipment is superior to the other. Everyone is different

never go by what the machines would say. heartrate is the way to go. i like treadmill more so than elliptical. some ellipticals are SO easy and i seriously feel like im doing nothing when I'm on them. I use them very rarely...only when im feeling lazy. But there are some ellipticals that are great. You definitly work hard when you are on them.

u want a workout..stepmill.

I prefer am elliptical over a treadmill just because it's less wear and tear on my joints.
