Actually its a knock off of the heavily marketed "perfect pushup" as seen here:

Picked up the set for a whopping 7.99 at the local bargain bin store. They are actually pretty well made, worth more than what I paid.

Anyways, any thought on the effectiveness of these things? Workout ideas with them? Tips? Lately I haven't been doing any traditional body building style training due to circumstantial factors and looking to get in a good chest workout at home.

Crossfit has a thing called tabata...tobota... tubbata... I don't know how to spell it. Basically, you do as many pushups as you can in 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat. You do 8 total sets of pushups, each time putting forth a max effort. I've done it a few times, and in 4 minutes you can totally destroy yourself.

I believe that another tabata exercise is usually added to this, such as air squats. Same principles, different exercise.

I have used the push up things. they are all about the same. to make it harder try puting your feet in a chair. or have some one set on your back. Im not trying to plug anyone's products but Ironmind.com has some great body weight tools.

It's about making it harder, but they also increase the range of motion since your hands are up higher from the ground allowing you to go deeper on the pushup.

P90X has a heavy focus on pushups as well, those grips really help take the strain off your wrist as well
