what ye guys think of havin a league format to the bodybuilding year! Im thinkin everybody has to do at least 2 shows, cause imo bodybuilding will eventually suffer because all the top guys are only doin the MR-O and thats it and as a follower of our great sport that means we only get to see the top pro's once a year. Only 1 of top 5 at 2008 mr-o(toney freeman) is competing at the arnold.thats not good enough, dexter decides to sit it out and focus on the o so jay follows as does d.wolf and phil heath, next year maybe vic and kai sit out to focus on the o.... So wat im thinkin is if you place 1st at the new york pro, charollete pro, iron man, tampa pro,and so on you get 7 pts, 2nd 5pts,3rd 4pts,4th 2pts,5th 1pt.. Arnold classic and mr-o 1st place 12pts,2nd 10pts,3d 8pts,4th 7pts,5th 6pts,6th 5pts... so the athlete with the most points at the end is the 2009 bodybuilder of the year and gets big purse for that, which might bring out more top bbs for the so called smaller show? yes or no?

ive always thought this sounded interesting. not sure it would ever happen but i def think it would be cool if the top guys competed more than once per year.

thats an awesome idea, hope it will spark added interest for the industry, go for it, http://forums.rxmuscle.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

as far as the top guys only competing once a year I dont knock the pros for that. Just goes to show how well they are doing for themselves, compete once a year and still have the bills paid. basically the doors are open for the rookies to step up to the plate and get some of the attention the top tier BBers have.

In order to have a league they would have to incorporate a realistic season length.

In order to compete and hold on to their condition you would have to be realistic and have a season 8-12 weeks long. You can look at this two ways, being that the off-season would be so long the interest may dwindle or the off-season creates a level playing field and possibly creates greater anticipation for the season.

It will never come to fruition for the layoff would scare the IFBB, not generating enough $$$.

like bulldawg,i dont knock them either for doing what their doin but its not to the good of the sport, think baseball, basketball, hockey, football, soccer even ufc top fighters fight a few times a year, so would love for the top guys in the sport really look at this

doesnt pro bb have the shortest off season in comparison to other sports??? Irish muscle's idea for a league format has good potential IMO and could possibly attract more fans. Im all for ithttp://forums.rxmuscle.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

I would like to see a season based on pts, with the top 10 professionals heading into the championiship weekend.

It would force the athletes to hold condition and agressivley market the sport, with more hype, potentially more sponsorship $$$, greater winnings, etc....

Sounds like it could make things very interesting.
