I stumbled onto my passion for food through bodybuilding. I am now currently going to culinary school but I'm still very passionate about weight lifting and bodybuilding. I have decided to start a thread combining my two favorite things in the world.

Feedback is welcome, share your tips below.

Costco has great protein powder, I get the Cytosport bags of vanilla and chocolate, they are fairly tasty standalone mixed w/water, and the chocolate is amazing with a cold cup of milk.

They are a little on the sweet side but this helps when mixed with Yogurt, oatmeal, cream of wheat, malt o meal etc...

For those who use Metamucil (I recommend people take a fiber supplement, I know Dave has a great one in Fiberlyze)...I get the orange sugar free.

Vanilla protein powder + Orange Metamucil = Creamsickle

-In a separate mixing bowl mix together cinnamon and sugar (or sucralose, tivia, equal)
-Heat a saute pan on medium heat and heat up oil (canola, vegetable, macadamia nut oil, coconut oil)
-Add your desired amount of Rice Krispies to the hot oil and mix in the cinnamon sugar mix.

The hot oil will allow the cinnamon and sugar to stick to the cereal, plus it gives the Krispies a nice toasted taste, and heats up the Krispies really hot which is a great contrast to some cold milk to pour over.

*You can do this to any plain cereal you'd like, this way you can buy a low sugar cereal like Rice Krispies or Total and add your own flavor to it.

While cooking Cream of Wheat in pan make slowly add in vanilla protein powder at the end,
constantly stirring to set a smooth texture,
take off heat and add milk if you'd like,
2 TBS of creamy peanut butter and gently stir in.
For texture I like to top it with my cereal sprinkled on top.

For people who like to make sandwiches Hummus is a great substitute for Mayo.

I also love olive oil and vinegar.

This is one of my favorite ways to do chicken, very simple, no fuss and the salsa verde is amazing and very low cal...only coming from the oil.

I made this for my family the other night with homemade garlic bread and asparagus from the grill.

Love these things, great way to get some fiber. Put some PP&J on that can't go wrong.

Dice up strawberries and place them in a bowl with sugar (or artificial sweetener).
Let sit in refrigerator for a while which will allow to sugar to bring out the natural juices of the strawberries and make them juicy and sweet. I also like to chop up a little fresh mint and mix a little in with the berries.
You can use a store bought biscuit or angel food cake from your local grocery store bakery,
Top with whipped cream (or lowfat whipped cream or whole milk)

What's not to love about Nutella!

Best when spread on cinnamon raisin bread or bagel.

I love this meal...
Costco has some great Fage 0 yogurt that's loaded in protein and low in fat,
I like to mix the Fage yorgurt with a little vanilla protein powder and squeeze a little fresh lemon or lime with a little zest.
Top with seasonal fruit (Now it's berry season: strawberries, blueberries, black, raspberries) and your favorite Oats (check local grocery store for artisanal oats).

*great pre bed meal for the long digesting casein protein in the yogurt.

Ingredients:

For brussels sprouts
· 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved lengthwise
· 3 tablespoons canola oil
· 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (Optional)

For dressing
· 1/4 cup Asian fish sauce (preferably Tiparos brand)
· 1/4 cup water
· 1/4 cup sugar
· 3 tablespoons finely chopped mint
· 2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro stems
· 1 garlic clove, minced
· 1 (1 1/2-inch) fresh red Thai chile, thinly sliced crosswise, including seeds

For puffed rice
· 1/2 cup crisp rice cereal such as Rice Krispies
· 1/4 teaspoon canola oil
· 1/4 teaspoon shichimi togarashi (Japanese seven-spice blend)

· Garnish: cilantro sprigs; torn mint leaves; chopped scallions

Preparation:

Roast brussels sprouts:
Preheat oven to 450°F with rack in upper third.
Toss Brussels sprouts with oil, then arrange, cut sides down, in a 17- by 12-inch shallow baking pan. Roast, without turning, until outer leaves are tender and very dark brown, 40 to 45 minutes. Add butter and toss to coat.

Make dressing:
Stir together all dressing ingredients until sugar has dissolved.

Make puffed rice while sprouts roast:
Cook cereal, oil, and shichimi togarashi in a small skillet over medium heat, shaking skillet and stirring, until rice is coated and begins to turn golden, about 3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool, stirring occasionally.

Finish dish:
Put Brussels sprouts in a serving bowl, then toss with just enough dressing to coat. Sprinkle with puffed rice and serve remaining dressing on the side.

If you go out to eat a lot like myself I can't tell you how valuable protein powder is, it's really a staple in my diet and I don't think I would have the physique I do today if it weren't for protein powder. Going out to eat you can always find food that fits your macros for fats and carbs but it's hard to get enough protein, this is where protein powder comes into play because it's one of the best protein sources you can get (loaded with BCAA's) and virtually no fats or carbs.

Say you go out to eat a a really nice Italian restaurant with your wife or girlfriend and all they have is pasta with very little protein you don't have to really sweat it because you can just have a protein shake when you get home or just add it onto your next meal.
