A few stats first: 22 years old, 160-165 pounds, natural.

I recently had my blood pressure taken and it was 87 over 154. It has gotten steadily higher over the last year or so. I remember reading somewhere that lifting heavy can increase blood pressure, and I was wondering if I can lower it cardio or something. Also, is it high enough to be concerned? If not, when should I get concerned?

are you sure you were 87/154........maybe 154/87? There is a big difference there.

You need to have that investigated further, there are things like issues with your adrenal glands (too much catecholamines-adrenaline/noradrenaline/dopamine released), to name one.

It is Monday morning and I can't remember any others.

Do doctors make you nervous?

It might be an idea to have a home testing sphignomenometer to see if it is just being at the doctor that has your BP elevate.

If you are natural it sounds like you have a genetic predisposition to high blood pressure and you might need to be on meds. Go see a MD!

Hah, yeah. I'm an idiot.

Alright, thanks for the info and advice guys. I didn't realize it was so high... I guess I should see a doctor. Both sides of my family have men dying of heart attacks all the time, so it could be genetic.

Bro go see a Doc I have been on blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds for years. I also have Type 2 Diabetes, all of which have been handed down to me from my family. It Sucks but you don't want it to get to far out of hand or God Forbid have a stroke or a heart attack!

Are there any adverse effects from the blood pressure and cholesterol meds?

There are so many out there now a days but most cholesterol meds will put some added stress on your liver so you have to keep an eye on that as well as muscle weakness.
