Do some health insurance companies cover gyno surgery or would it be considered cosmetic?

That's a good question, but if you have it, simply complain about "the intense pain" that it gives you, then maybe it wouldn't be cosmetic, it would be necessary.

I have heard of a case where insurance did cover it but that was because the guy was at risk of developing breast cancer. Other than that, I think it will be tough getting them to pay for it.

just had mine approved. Told them they were sore and caused me problems during work. Also told them I have a hisory of breast cancer in my family. Alot hinges on how the dr writes it up.
