hey yall,
my training is going good, i plan on competing in the fall of next year and currently working on my weak bodyparts. one of them is trying to develop my upper glutes where they tie in to my lower back. my lower glutes are developed and always sore, but i cant seem to isolate the upper glutes. any suggestions. thanks in advance.

The glutes don't really have an upper and lower, like say pecs. The gluteus maximus is one muscle (per side). It contracts as a unit. I'd just do a variety of exercises over time.

Not sure if that's entirely true. Underneath the gluteus maximus is a small muscle near the top- gluteus medius. I think that a variety of movements will give a better shape to the area.

A better question might be, is it that really important? Squat full range and heavy for a few years. I'm sure that will fix all your glute issues.
