I use Mg citrate as a supplement and I've never noticed a diuretic effect.

Never noticed anything close to that effect even with high doses of magnesium citrate.

Ah you're referring to the liquid magnesium citrate sold in grocery and drug stores that is used as a LAXATIVE. Yes, when dosed properly, this is an effective LAXATIVE. It'll cause water to be pulled into the intestines giving you diarrhea and shitting like crazy.

Why would you want to do that?

Especially if you are getting ready for a show it will flatten you out.

Okay actually there is some evidence that magnesium deficiency can increase aldosterone:

So using magnesium would allow for healthy aldosterone levels, which would support healthy water balance. I don't think it'll dry you out, but not a bad idea to make sure you're supplementing with magnesium for healthier aldosterone balance.

Plus magnesium deficiency lowers potassium levels, independent of potassium intake.

So a magnesium supplement in the final weeks prep would help to keep aldosterone in check, as well as maintaining a good level of potassium, a natural level?

How about running this with potassium, taking both, as well as additional salt in the diet, then cutting the sodium around Friday for a Sunday show?
