Steve Van Buren (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Van_Buren) led the team to three consecutive NFL Championship Games, winning two of them in 1948 and 1949. Ex-Eagles receiver under drug investigation: report

LAKELAND, Florida (AFP) — Former Philadelphia Eagles receiver Freddie Mitchell is being investigated after receiving a package with seven pounds of marijuana, the Lakeland Ledger reported Wednesday.
Mitchell has not been arrested and there have been no charges filed in the incident, in which Mitchell signed for a package at a barbecue restaurant last week after it was originally delivered to his 90-year-old grandmother.
Mitchell said he thought the package contained restaurant supplies and called the acceptance of the drug package "a case of mistaken identity."
Police confirmed marijuana was in the package.
Mitchell, who last played in the NFL in 2004, made 90 catches for 1,263 yards and five touchdowns in 63 career games for the Eagles.

LMAO I guess he was high during that press conference too.

Draft needs

Help on the O'line, a blocking tight end, a bigger receiver with hands or (a proven receiver ala Boldin, TJ), a back to replace Westbrook in a couple years.

i hear tj hous is about to resign with the bengals ( what a moron)
that leaves us with old ass marvin harrison
maybe boldin if we can make a trade happen

i like celek so i am not big on going after a TE, he blocks decently and can be a offensive weapon if we had a number 1 reciever

we def need a change of pace back to dispell westbrook especially with buckholter being gone

Welcome

Yes he wants a guy that can catch the ball when thrown to him. A guy that is athletic ehough to make something out of nothing. A possesion recevier. We already have two good speed guys.

agreed but Dawk is hurt. Mikel will take over now.

I hope TJ doesn't sign with them. Celek is not a blocking TE and based on the way Reid likes to play offense we have to have a blocking TE.

New York and Philadelphia are completing a trade that will send cornerback Lito Sheppard to the Jets while the Eagles will receive a 2009 fifth-round pick and a 2010 conditional draft pick.
The pick could be as high as a second-round choice in 2010 and as a low as a fourth. But the Eagles will get two picks and the Jets get Sheppard, who will be in New York Saturday for a physical.

no he is not a typical blocking te but i have seen him block on run plays.we may need a blocking te but clearly andy doesnt go after one. LJ isnt a blocking TE either and he drops balls. his style of the west coast offense is barely run, throw a bunch of 10-20 yrd passes and try 2-3 home run shots...its to predictable and with that offense u need a stud TE who can gain yrds after the catch. i am not a fan of this style and i think the philosophy shud change

Eagles news right off the wire

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80efa952&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true

The Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.nfl.com/teams/philadelphiaeagles/profile?team=PHI) completed a deal with offensive lineman Stacey Andrews on Saturday, signing the unrestricted free agent to a six-year contract.
Andrews, 27, spent his first five seasons with Cincinnati and is the older brother of Eagles right guard Shawn Andrews (http://www.nfl.com/players/shawnandrews/profile?id=AND725489), a former All-Pro coming off a troubled year. Stacy Andrews (http://www.nfl.com/players/stacyandrews/profile?id=AND726755) projects to replace right tackle Jon Runyan (http://www.nfl.com/players/jonrunyan/profile?id=RUN804626), who started every game with Philadelphia since 2000.
Published reports indicated Andrews traveled to Philadelphia on Friday to undergo a physical. The Eagles later announced he was scheduled to be made available to the media on Saturday.
"That would be great," Stacy Andrews told the Philadelphia Daily News prior to signing with the Eagles. "It'd be a great feeling. It'd be a boost for Shawn and me, (and) the organization. It's something I'm looking forward to ... It'd be great to be playing right beside my brother, dominatin' over there."
Andrews was designated as the Bengals' franchise player last offseason and made $7.5 million in 2008, starting the first 15 games at right tackle. He tore two ligaments in his right knee in Week 16 and underwent reconstructive surgery in January.
A fourth-round draft pick by the Bengals in 2004, Andrews has started 32 of his 62 career games, all in the last three seasons.

Well LJ didn't really do anything well, so he can go. Celek is better fit for the birds but either they get a possesion WR or get a TE that can block and catch...which is a much harder challenge. Thats why TJ is a better fit for the birds.

Life long Eagles fan here. Usually the Eagles make the right move when they let veteran players go, but Dawkins leaving is a big blow. The Heart and Soul of the defense. It is like if the Flyers let Bobby Clarke sign somewhere else in the 70's. I hope 09 isn't another heart break, but you know the Eagles.

Hey We had to let Troy Vincent go too. He was a great player for us. Sad to seem him go, but I can rest assured that Jim Johnson still has playmakers and pride left on that defense.
