How many of you use a Prowler or weight sled for GPP? What kind of weight are you using? Results? I use a sled called the Strength Screamer. It's a T-shaped sled similar to one of the Prowlers, but IMO, a much better design. I love training with it.

Sled work and tire drags are great for conditioning. Sled poundage varies between 90 and 180lbs and so do distances.

Here is what I do two times a weeks:
I use between 60-75 pounds
5 minutes of various sled pulls
1 minute rest
3 minutes of various sled pulls
1 minute rest
1 minute of various sled pulls

Repeat the above one more time

Unless you are going up a really steep hill...Short promo I made of EFS of SWAT Team Using Prowler Sled. The hill in the vid is MUCH steeper then the vid really shows :D

I had them doing rotations of Sled and 100+ sand bag carry up and down that hill. I was seconds from mutiny!

I mix it up but I do some type of conditioning with tires, sleds and a prowler 3 days a week. On friday I did 40 foot prowler pushes with 330lbs plus sled into 2 tire flips with a tire weight of 445 followed by 20 sledge hits(10 each side) did this 6 times.

I like to do drag sled pulls 1 minute on 1 minute off as a form of HIIT cardio.

don't have one.
I was thinking of pushing/pulling (we have a harness) our car for cardio in the spring (I hate the cold). I figure that would be good as well.

I love the tire sled even better than the prowler.. Great friction, which gives a great proprioceptive response. I attach a 2 inch bar for grip and push / pull around two volleybal courts then move to another exercise. I start at 98 lbs and move up. The iso holds before push and after pull are incredible. I can't figure out the embed code but here's a link.

Erin 'Tiger Eyes' Riley trains with the prowler. I posted her video in the Women's section.

I like both the sled and the prowler. My program's varry, but I prefer using both devices once a week.

Prowler:
Hi push with 180lbs for 30 yard then sprint back to the starting position. Walk back for rest and start over. Do this for 10 rounds total.

Sled:
I load up a total of 8 plates and drag backwards for 30yards then pull back for 30 yards. Then finish set with 10 burpies. Do this for 10 rounds. This is RUFF!!!

I just rigged up a sled to use at my gym by using some chain and caribiners I bought at Home Depot. I loop the chain through the handles of a stack of plates (either 4 or 5) and then attach a v-handle to it and drag it back and forth across the gym floor. I started off doing about 5 trips of roughly 100 hundred feet and have worked up to 10 trips over the last couple of months. Excellent cardio that makes my legs wobble for a while afterward.

I hope this is cool with RXM mods.

I have been working with push sleds (specifically the Prowler II) for years now with people from all walks of life. SWAT teams, fitness models, strong man competitors, body builders, IFBB pro Figure competitors, to Joe/Jane every day fitness enthusiast, and those looking to shed some weight, to name just a few. The longer I use the sled with an ever wider variety of people with varying goals, the more convinced I became that the push sled is the single most effective strength and conditioning tool I have used. Instead of starting a new thread, figured better to bump this one.

I'm a big fan of push sleds, as are most of your top names in strength & conditioning. In my view, the single most effective whole body strength & conditioning tool around. Biggest issue for most who wanted one is, difficulty of transporting a full sized sled and storage. I have solved that problem with the Avenger sled, which is a concept of mine and built and designed by Slayer Barbell. Each sled built to order, in the US, by a veteran owned biz. LE/Mil discounts apply.

Sled goes from this:
