I've been lifting for almost 15 years, with a few protracted lapses/interruptions along the way, when life events seemed to be more important at the time. Just over two years ago, I was injured and forced to stop bodybuilding alltogether. The docs at the time insisted that my days of hardcore lifting were behind me.
After a painful, challenging recovery, I find myself - as I write this in October 2013, truly blessed to have been given a second chance. I did what was necessary to overcome serious injury & handicap, remembering along the way that bodybuilding has never been a passing interest or hobby of mine. It is central to my core, to who I am, and the way I want and need to live my life. As someone fortunate enough to have a legitimate second change, I've rekindled what brought me to the world of iron years ago: I need to pursue my near lifelong dream of competing in the NPC, prioritizing my life to ensure I'll succeed. My career, relationship, achievements and other areas of my personal life are all important and cherished by me. But now, literally weeks away from getting the medical release stating it's safe for me to train without restriction, I have the renewed/clarified perspective that my bodybuilding goals come FIRST. The career changes, the long hours in the gym, in the kitchen - the near single-minded quest to embrace this central element of my core, this is a gift.
WILL do whatever necessary to get on that stage and WIN my class. I need to do this for me; and other interests, priorities, career opportunities and activities that I once put first are now subordinate to bodybuilding. Succeeding here is not a goal, it is who I am.
I have a healthy knowledge of kinesiology, proper nutrition, and know how my body works and develops fairly well. But I will ALWAYS have much more to learn, ALWAYS benefit from other people's perspectives, and anyone reading this that relates on any level - and is willing to offer support, feedback, ideas, constructive criticism....all of these things are deeply appreciated.
I have a lot of work to do and intermediate goals to achieve between now and my first contest. I'm have no delusions about what I'm signing up for, at least until I'm too old to still be able to pick up a dumbbell ;). I can especially benefit from advice about stacking - what, when, length, etc, plus ongoing motivational sentiments/reminders, among other things.
So, I'm eager to become acquainted with the rxmuscle.com community....what I learn and hope to contribute on these boards will only enhance my bodybuilding work.
My bone structure is larger than average, I'm 5'9", and when my bodyfat is a low, competition-appropriate single digit level, my body's best designed for the Heavyweight class.
