Yeah, I know..not a very imaginative title for a thread. I'll change it when I think of something better.
Well, it's off season time. :D I finally get to say that since I competed.
As most of my friends here know, I'm spending my winter in the Australian summer with Sledge. He's going to train me while I'm here. This will be new to me. I've never had anyone train me in the gym. I've always worked out on my own. Sledge is very knowledgeable and a certified trainer. We start on Wednesday and I can't wait!
I haven't trained at all since my show. I needed the break. Six months of contest dieting was exhausting but now I'm rested and very ready to go.
I'm not sure if I'll post every workout. I have to get used the metric system. I'll try to post in pounds. I will post pics as well.
I haven't chosen a show yet for 2010. Sledge and I have to talk about it and plan things more. I'm thinking it will be August/Sept. I competed at 135 but should have been about 10 pounds leaner. Conditioning will be the main goal once I start to cut.
For now, I'll be working on building more delts and arms. I also want to change the look and quality of my glutes. I'm also going to train abs more. I'll come clean...I never train abs. Ever. Not even during my contest prep. I could come up with lots of excuses but the true reason is I hate training them. Gotta suck it up now and do it anyway.
So three weeks after my show, I'm weighing in at 151 pounds. I don't want to put on too much more weight. I do have a mental problem with the scale numbers. To relieve that and keep it from inhibiting my progress, I'm still going to weigh-in but not look at the number. Sledge will and he'll monitor my progress and make the necessary changes. He's also calculated and planned my diet. I'm just going to trust him and his plan. I have complete confidence in him. That's something I learned from Suzanne Germano. Trusting her trainer Jeremy relieves the stress on her and allows her to enjoy the process.
The plan is to follow a MAX-OT training plan. I'll do the 16 minute HIIT cardio required but in addition I will do quite a bit of low intensity cardio because I will be biking to and from the gym and just about anywhere else I want to go. My diet is Dave's off season plan. Basically, it's his protein/fat part of the contest diet but we'll add carbs slowly, starting at 2-3 meals a day and upping that as Sledge sees fit. That should allow for growth without getting too fat.
I can't wait to get started!
