Protein powder and insulin spikes
Hi guys,
do you have any valid study about this topic? I am really new to the whole "Insulin topic" and I am starting with BodyRX radio where Scott Connelly talks about insulin a lot. But I havent listened to any episode about protein powders and insulin spikes. If it's good or bad. Are there any studies or articles I can trust? Thanks

X2. I would not call protein powder a spike. A Snickers Marathon bar, yes.

if you add some dextrose to your whey isolate protein will that create spike in insulin levels?

What I wanna now is how much does protein powder spike your insulin. And how many grams would spike it. We all hear about sugars and how they spike insulin but never about protein sources and especially about whey protein powder.
And if it does spike you insulin. Is it good for you or not?
And what about diets with fasting. Protein powder would ruin it.

Take you favorite protein, in various amounts, 10, 15,20 grams and then measure your blood glucose levels and you'll know. Those are results you can trust!

Proteins do cause as insulin response as proteins sometimes can break down to sugar, causing your body to release insulin to break the sugars down. This is called Gluconeogenesis. Not a spike in insulin, but can cause a release.
