Safety squat bar/trap bar
Looking to purchase a safety squat bar and a deadlift trap bar for our gym, The trainers are going to pitch in and buy these instead of having the gym own them. Anyone had experiences w the squat bar and know of good source?

Go to Dave Drapers web site and look for his safety squat bar. I believe it has the best arm/grip profile.

Mike, that might work well. A lot of people have trouble with front squats.
Like Baldie said the Draper Top Squat looks good too.

Good idea Mike. I believe Dave will respond with a thoughtful answer. He has had his share of injuries!

Got the Top Squat in from Dave Draper. I havent had a chance yet to use it but one of the younger trainers did and he was amazed. He doesnt really need it since he has no injuries but what he did comment on it how much more he felt the contractions in his quads than before especially going down deep. He also did walking lunges w 185lb bb and was smiling while he was doing them so I guess that gives you the answer.

That looks great. I've read where Dave says it gives you a better feel for the movement. I may have to get one!

Out of the 7 people that have used it the common comment is this is hitting my quads more than conventional bb squats makes logical sense, since your not bound up in the flexed position there's more focus to leg muscle activation
one kid who may not have the strongest core said it fried his abs!

For A SS Bar: http://newyorkbarbells.com/im-0210.html (I have one of these - good quality, except one of the handles slipped off after a year or two. Some glue and good as new.)

I'm all for the Top Squat bar. Have had one for about 5 yr now, I think.
It also fits on smith bars, so you can use it there for squats, lunges, romanian split squats, etc. (It grips the bar well enough to allow you to latch and unlatch the bar.)
