Default Doc said to stop eating so much protein and supplements!!!

Just got blood drawn and over the years my doc said that my ALT has been slowly increasing over the years, he said possibly due to how much protein and supplements i take? Anyone have the same problem and what are some ways to lower an elevated ALT? I really dont want to stop taking supplements and protein, oh my score was 91 and average is between 10-60, thanks

ALT is liver enzyme. How does too much protein affect this? I routinely had high AST and ALT. I took a few weeks off lifting went back for blood work and they were normal. I beleive heavy training affects these numbers due to the liver having to remove the waste products of heavy training

Bodybuilders will all have elevated liver enzymes anyway just from the processing of broken down muscle tissue. Easiest thing to do is quit the protein and supps and see if it helps. I know you'll hear a lot of people just come on here and tell you that your doctor is full of shit, but there's no harm in switching to whole food and seeing if it works. If it doesn't work, then it's not the supplements, and if it does then you might save yourself from some problems down the road.

Also.. define "supplements".. what supplements are you taking aside from protein?

I agree with all of this. There is nothing to lose by switching it up to see how you react. Sometimes taking a break, cutting out training and high protein for a while is all that's required. Rest can be a very powerful medicine.

Heavy workouts raise liver function tests. High protein diets first can effect kidney function. If there is liver failure due to another condition (eg. alcoholic hepatitis, misuse of oral anabolic steroids, hepatitis A B or C) then low protein diet is recommended.
The key point is just to take care of your liver, perhaps consider use of Himalaya Liver Care or Evening Primrose oil, if you are exposing your liver to toxins.
Keep your testosterone levels in the 80-95th percentile of what is normal for your age to keep liver functioning well.
