College Football
I don't know about the rest of you but I am big college football fan. NFL: not so much. It's something about watching kids play at that high level that is exciting to watch.
To put that ND team against any of the top 5 SEC teams is a mismatch. Until they get this playoff system going this is nothing but a money making joke for a national champion.
Alabama the best team this year, yes for sure, but that ND team I saw lat night (not a top 10 team) I would have loved to see Oregon play Bama, that would been a fair fight.
As far as I'm concerned the National Title Game was played in the Ga Dome.Last edited by Hammerfit; 01-08-2013 at 12:06 PM.

SEC is so dominant right now you probably could make the argument that 4 of the top 5 or 6 teams every year are going to be coming from that conference.......bigger,stronger,faster athletes and great coaching all down the line. Talk about schedules!.....just going through the season as an SEC team is like going through the meat grinder.........it amazes me that someone comes out of it every year with only one or no losses!

I guess you or we can thank Urban Meyer for Alabama and the SEC domination of college football. When he came to Florida he recruited pretty good football players that were as fast as lightening and no team could keep up with them for more than 2 quarters Alabama included. Then the other SEC teams especially Alabama got smart and recruited huge, tough players that were also exceptionally fast. Now, in order to compete, all SEC teams are doing the same thing. I don't think there are enough big, tough and speedy players to go around, so now it is a recruiting fight everywhere to get them.

Very good point. Speed Kills! As much as I don't like Saban (only cause Im a UGA fan) I got to respect his recruiting skills. It's gotten where the best recruiter is the program that produces the most NFL 1st rounders and right now that seems to be Bama's turn. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't win again next year.

Just look at the Miami teams of the 80's and 90's. You couldn't find a faster team on both O and D sides of the ball. They were something magically to behold. I actually think they are the pioneers of modern day recruiting in college ball and what was more impressive is they did it with ghetto superstars - until the other teams caught on lol

I have always preferred college ball, but WAS also a big NFL (& MLB) fan as a kid. Players then were with the same team most of their career if not all. It was easy to adopt and cheer for a team year after year. I enjoy NFL games now, but rarely care who wins.
Gosh, just realized this is an old thread.
Football season is approaching. I can hardly wait. I only wish it lasted as long as the NBA season and the NBA season was as short as the college season is now.

Yesterdays Iron Bowl will certainly go down in history. I agree with you, that's what it's all about.

No doubt about that game in the Iron Bowl. Historical stuff that was. Now the argument begins. Who deserves to be in the last BCS National Championship game? FSU vs a 24-0 Ohio State or a 1 loss SEC Champion vs FSU?
The AD for Auburn put it the best. If this was next year: the playoff would start with #1 vs #4. That would be FSU vs Auburn. I would agree Ohio State has an argument but their strength of schedule takes them down considerably. The Ohio States of the world if you want respect schedule someone from the south during your regular season and you will get it.
Sounds biased? It's just the truth.

I agree Mike, my vote is for Auburn or Alabama vs FSU.
