Of everyone on this board...I am NOT a freaking troll.
I happen to have a strong opinion about this and if I can "spoil" it enough to prevent one person from paying money to see this garbage, then that's great.

I do not think you are a troll and I think you are correct in almost EVERY aspect of what you have said.
While the movie is partially fiction, its also the re telling of horrific events in a way to make it seem funny. Granted its Hollywood and that is just what they do.
Mark Walberg has even come out and said he talked to the families of the people involved and tried to tell them he was NOT making light of the situation. He tried to make sure that the "real" names were kept out of the film

"Its also the re telling of horrific events in a way to make it seem funny. Granted its Hollywood and that is just what they do." That's where the poblem is, "It's Hollywood and that's just what they do." It's okay to laugh at yourself, but some events can never be sugar coated and made out to be entertainment nuggets to be taken in.

I wish any director but Bay got his hands on this story. If they wanted to make it into a film, they should have stuck with the dark/dramatic theme. A more suitable director like Darren Aronofsky or Nicolas Refn could have made this into a great movie. I can't totally judge it because I havent seen it yet, but I doubt Bay did the story justice.
hit the nail on the head.

Unfortunately, money talks in most places. Hollywood, especially? Bay's films have grossed nearly two BILLION.

Ya, really who cares it's a movie. My point was the movie seems to portray these guys in a way that makes them feel like they are justified in their actions because of their gym lifestyle.
"I know what your thinking. Did I fire 5 shots or did I fire 6 shots. You gotta ask yourself, Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, Punk?"

I'm pleasantly surprised that Bay considers bodybuilders important enough to make a film about, & that he was willing to keep the idea alive for a decade. The comic failed crime caper film is an established form (it has existed since The Ladykillers in 1955), it's nice to see Wahlberg & Johnson involved. Can't wait for this movie, & hope it's good.

Curt.
He was given the TransFormers! A franchise with a built-in rabid fan base that had been established and growing since 1984. Those movies were awful...
It's like saying George Lucas is a good director because the Prequel Trilogy grossed $2.53 Billion.
You're right...this story didn't need to be "funnied up". The real story was tailor-made for the movies. A better director would have known that.
