Muscle Gossip: Cedric McMillan Disqualified At The 2013 Arnold Brazil
CedDQ.jpg
Right now Cedric McMillan sits in his hotel room here in Rio De Janeiro, shredded, covered in pro-tan, starving, and extremely confused. He’s confused because he knows instead of winning the inaugural Arnold Brazil, like just about everyone and their mama predicted, he’ll be somewhere stuffing his drawn-in and depleted face thinking, “Why me?”, all because he missed the Athletes Meeting today.

i mean rules are rules but no good comes of this disqualification. the 5k fine would be sufficient considering bbers aren't rolling in money and would serve as a good deterrent. fans came to see a show and now one of the top names isn't going to be in it.

That is ridiculous and an extreme over use of power and only displays an extreme lack of basic judgement skills any reasonable person would have. Lee Thompson and the judges must have lost their grip on reality and their ability to relate to "commoners" not as privileged. Are they not thinking about all the fans pumping money into the event that maybe came to see someone as big as Cedric. No, forget about them and the sponsors of the event who also may sponsor the athlete.
Oh, Cedric broke the rules ergo he is disqualified without any consideration of his circumstances or alternative disciplinary actions. What kind of thinking is that. You can't be that black and white in any business. Anyone who operates like that is an idiot. Without the athletes the IFBB doesn't exist. The athletes are investing a ton of time, energy and money (which most don't have) so they can compete so if you are going to DQ at the last second you should have a better reason than they were late for an athletes meeting. That shit can be explained, apologized for and ironed out later. Especially when you have to travel to Rio to compete. Fucking ridiculous.
Have they lost sense of who they and how big bodybuilding is? There better be some insane detail they are not including like Cedric told them to fuck themselves or something like that.
This is just an adolescent, prick move on the part of the judges and everyone involved. Plain and simple."If you ever start taking things too seriously, just remember that we are talking monkeys on an organic spaceship flying through the universe." - Joe Rogan

How frequent do pro IFBB competitors show up late or blow off the meeting? Any noteworthy examples to put things in perspective of whether someone showing up late was rare or commonplace until now?

I thought it was up to the promoter. Kai was late of one show and they let him compete after that scolded him in front of everyone. Kai still won the show. THis really messed up for the fans there who wanted to see Cedric. Its like to go see a Main boxing event and they don't let the champ compete.

Try and put yourself in his situation. Would you just go "Oh well, rules are rules and I was late. There goes all that time and money for nothing" or would you actually have enough of a backbone and a brain to argue how small what you did actually was and that there are ton of other more reasonable punishments for that infraction. I know your an "Pro" so you can't actually speak your mind because you sold yourself and your right to express your own opinion to the sport as soon as you committed to it...as is the politics involved and especially for women. But any person can see this is a ridiculous rule and there should be room for some sort of negotiation.
I'm sure this would be playing out differently if it was Branch Warren or Phil Heath. Teaching Cedric, someone who has served our country, discipline and making an example of him must be on the top of Lee Thompson's list...That Cedric guy is just reckless."If you ever start taking things too seriously, just remember that we are talking monkeys on an organic spaceship flying through the universe." - Joe Rogan

Ced has another show soon, no doubt, doesn't need the qualification, & will make an expo appearance there. It is what it is. Life goes on & he will be back & better.
