Man Of Steel (Superman) NON Spoiler Review!
The people who know me ...know that Superman is one of my favorite superheroes of all time....To those who follow me on twitter know that i had mixed feelings coming into this, like the color pallete etc etc....Anyways ....here's the non spoiler one....Since lot's of people have asked me.... Let's do this.
Remember I've worked in cinema before so, if it's too technical well...yeah it's coming from a certified Director of photography yadda yadda yadda hehe...
Okay...
Movie was good/ok....Trailers were very misleading. To say the least.
The biggest FLAW this movie has is the creative team behind the camera. Im sorry but it's true.
David Goyer and Zack Snider need to go…
Storytelling was very sloppy…and has a lots of problems...
Has a strong 1950's sic fi feel to it. Kinda the earth stood still…That was cool.
A lot of ppl compare it to batman begins…well…it kinda is…., meaning....it's a weak start to a very powerful trilogy….but its more comparable to The Dark Knight Rises….why….Because it's has too much to cover….the same problems….so many great ideas…..and explore too much …u basically have to many ideas that are under development…..But hey, it is what it is.
The Main Problem with the movie…..SCREENWRITTING 101
You would think Goyer knows about this…
Again screenwriting 101….
You're supposed to get into a scene and in some ways a movie latest possible and leave it at latest possible. The story started waaaay too early in krypton….Felt it could have been saved for later flashbacks...
Too early for ZOD……I believe ZOD would've been excellent for a 2nd or 3rd movie.
A Lex Luthor would be great for this….But I believe mainstream media is not too kind of this...
For a first movie….the biggest problem superman should have is himself….growing up with all these powers and the real problems the world has.
Very touching scenes…..especially in Smallville…Very well made.
EMO Superman….yeah that.
Characters
Henry Cavill…..Not bad…..Trailers are misleading….So…Not bad…although Tom Welling still rules…..Cavill is EMO Superman...EMO ...but it works.
Faiora - Amazing Heel . . . Really sold the roll…
ZOD - It was unfortunate . . . Did not work.
Louis Lane…. Part was well written …but no romantic spark…..making them a couple soooo quickly…..No Bueno.
Hair and costume choices not the best….Still.... i liked her.
Wrapping this up..
Should you see this movie…???
If you're a comic book fan - u will just be interested….and might, have mixed feelings on certain things...Will say when spoiler comes out.
If you're not - I have no idea how you would feel….
So….as of this morning…..on rotten tomatoes…was 69%
It will be appreciated by comic book fan….but mot so much for mainstream audiences in my opinion.
For a
Next movie
Goyer & Snider - need to go
Cast could stay….
This superman could mix well with Nolan's Batman…. Justice League maybe!?
6 Outta 10 stars….
Would like to see more of this and DC cinematic universe….Let's hope it begins….

Have tickets purchased already. REALLY looking forward to this. Read many reviews and am not disappointed that the Lois and Clark aspect wasn't developed. There will be time for that in a sequel (which I hope takes place).
Agreed, definitely want to see more of the DC cinematic universe! And there's no need for origin movies of all the JL characters. "Watchmen" just jumped right in.
Justic League could do the same.
Looking forward to your follow-up review, but I might have to log off for the next 48 hours. I don't want to know too much!Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

I've got tickets for Friday morning also. I'm looking forward to seeing it but it was interesting how Johnny said that the trailer is very misleading. I'm also surprised that Rotten Tomatos only has it at 69%. I'll post my review on Muscles at the Movies this Friday.

I know that any movie adaptation of an existing franchise has to entertain and inform the new audiences, as well as not insult the existing fans. With this film, I believe that Goyer was smart in that he made sure he's read up on the actual comic books, and how DC has tried the last decade or so to introduce a bit of a better explanation for Superman's kind of 'silly' origins. He was created in the 1930's, but today, let's face it, the idea of a super technologically advanced race not realizing that their planet was going to explode is kinda hard to believe.
I won't be seeing it myself until Friday, but having read many of the actual comics that I know were referenced, I think it's a lot less 'trying to turn Superman into the Dark Knight' as some people have said, and more of addressing where his history has gone while still providing the backstory, albeit with a bit more pathos for a true fish out of water.
Just my thoughts, thanks for sharing

I will wait till all of you get the opportunity to see it.
There were things I was ok with. BUT SOME THAT JUST WERE NOT OK.
Especially for Superman.

My feelings after watching this movie was that they forced to quickly into the story the development of superman. I would've loved to have this entire movie be JUST THAT, his personal development. The Zod storyline was to much to early
