I think a lot of the Phil hate just comes from the fact he's on top. I don't see his attitude as changing much...I always link back to when Ronnie was O, every one was whining that he didn't desever a bunch of his wins and just waiting for Jay to win. Now everyone talks like ronnie was the greatest O ever and never could be touched and was always loved by everyone.

I don't really get the Jordans and all that shit (I'm super white), but I am still not convinced that Phil is overly cocky (beyond the level of confidence required to be the best in the world).

I think to some degree, it's unfair that someone can joke and kid around and it's charming, until they reach a successful status and now all of a sudden they can't bust peoples balls or call people out for saying shit. I don't think necassarily people change when they reach the top, but how fans expect them to behave changes...like they are looking for any reason to dislike the guy.

Regardless, awesome article Matt. I agree we will learn a lot about Phil this year...

Well written article Matt, very entertaining. But, one the whole ambassador thing when it comes to Mr. Olympia; Aside from Jay Cutler, there really haven't been too many Mr O's that have actively done a great deal when it comes to putting in work to better the sport's reputation. Ronnie and Dorian were monsters but Dorian hid 80% of the year and Ronnie, well....Ronnie just kept it real simple lol. And let's take Lebron for comparison, he's the "king" in the NBA right now and most people think he's a douche portrays a poor representation of the sport.
I definitely agree that Phil's behavior has taken a slightly more egotistical direction ever since his newly found fame as a 2x Mr. O, but how much does that really matter in his case?

Again, loved the article Matt, definitely got me thinking!

Dexter has calves that suit his physique, imo. They don't detract.

Wolf, on the other hand, has a serious deficiency. :-( Especially his left leg.

He should invest in a two-tier calf implant strategy. Have a small implant inserted followed by a slightly larger one a year later. Just to provide some symmetry. Nothing drastic.
