Ed Van Amsterdam has died of a heart attack at age 40. He left a wife & children behind. Rest in peace Ed.

Holy crap that sucks I remember him from the 05'07 era he semmed like a nice guy . What a sad situation for his family . RIP BIG MAN !!!

I remember he used to do this invisible basketball routine on stage that was pretty good.

i dont understand why some of theese guys feel the need to risk health to be this big at 40 - 50 yearsold all there getting is a plastic trophy apparently he was warned about his health and they told him to stop bbing but he didnt listen

I dont think they think they ll be dead at 40. I would have done anything to be in the NFL , anything! . But that was not a reality when I got to my senior year in college anymore. All I ever wanted was to make a roster. I would have and did risk anything I had.

I met him at FIBO 2012 I think, and he was very open and friendly guy and we talked with him a bit about this and that. I am not sure if he mentioned he had some problems with his heart back then too... I think he told us that that is why he retired. Damn. Ed was really cool when I met him at FIBO 2012 and did a short interview with him for RX.
