Today started with an adjustment in cardio to 45 minutes of LISS 4 x week and HIIT 15 minutes 3 x week. I'm finding it very difficult to walk on the treadmill at an incline for more than 15 minutes. When I say difficult, I mean BORING! So I started running and that seems to keep my heart rate up. I think tomorrow I will try the stair mill. Today was my first posing lesson. Wow, do I have a lot of work to do in this area! It was nice to hear from an accomplished figure competitor that I have potential! So needless to say, I left there feeling charged and ready to practice.
Today was also my first lower carb day. So far so good with staying on point with the carbs but I most always seem to go over on fats. I didn't realize I should be counting the fat in a whole egg and the fat in my salmon etc. Looks like I might need to stick to egg whites only and chicken?? Trying to be creative with the menu is getting difficult.

Hi ya Terri! Good luck in your training, I'm still a rookie as well and competed in my first figure show in June and can't wait to do it again. I've been slacking on my journal but will update.
Stay strong!

Hit it pretty hard today. Started with 15 min HIIT treadmill sprints and then long leg workout: leg press (wide) 4x12, squats (narrow) 4x12, DB lunges 4 sets of 12 per leg, SLDL 4x15 and extensions s/s with horizontal leg curls. Pooped out on calves but I'll hit them tomorrow with light back and LISS. Managed to bring meal #2 to the gym so far on track with today's meals! Planning is so critical!
Can anyone recommend a quality posing video?

I am 14 weeks out today. Workout today included LISS 45 min, light back and shoulders. Screwed up and made a small mistake on macro calculation for the day but I think I'm now back on track. My "stay"cation is over so it's back to the grind tomorrow. Since I will be on call tomorrow the plan is LISS 45 min and off day macros.

14 weeks.....so far on track this week. My work schedule has allowed for me to do morning cardio so I will keep that up as long as possible. Great back workout today. Deadlift 255 x 5, new best! Great motivation to keep pushing!!

4:00 am cardio in the basement...gotta love it!! Busy, busy day in surgery yesterday but managed to get in shoulders and chest in the p.m. Coach adjusted macros again, carbs down on all days, I think it's about to get real! Weight still hanging around 123-124. Not sure how fast it should be dropping but I feel tighter and continue to see changes in the way my body looks.
If I figure out how to load pictures or should I say get the courage to put them out there I will do so this weekend. Tonight is back and triceps.

LISS 45 minutes yesterday, not weight training due to being on call. Today was leg day.....one day I know it will become a favorite.
Smith Machine Squats
135x10, 160x10, 170x8, 180x6
Leg Press (Narrow)
2pps+1x15, 4 sets
SLDL
125x12, 4sets
Horizontal Leg Curls
20x12, 4 sets
Calves
Seated 90x12
Standing 45x12
Weight down today to 121.2. I'm feeling good but am becoming very nervous about not being able to lean out fast enough. Time is definitely the enemy. I know I don't have enough time to put on a lot of muscle mass for this first competition so I really don't want the added stress of too much body fat! Tomorrow starts week 13....
