Pro Cards
Just looked at the number of pro cards given out at the Team Universe.
Holy Crap! Why are they still giving out so many for bikini and figure?
We must have a million pros in each division by now.
I can see it for mens and womens physique cause they are new, but come on.

It does seem pretty ridiculous especially when you consider most of the competitors in those categories do a show or two and never compete again.

The NPC/IFBB never explains anything. You have to stand back, watch what it does, & make the conclusions you can. It leads to a lot of speculation & misinformation, but it's a closed shop & that's just the way it is.
My best guess: the cards are inducements to expand its membership base. If card opportunities go down, membership does. Most of the non-bodybuilding pros don't compete anyway, but they can if they want to.

Most competitors only compete once or twice a year, tops.
So they want to make sure that there's enough competitors to warrant having the divisions at the pro ranks and that will be able to fill out the pro show rosters.
I expect that once the rosters are large enough, I expect they will shrink down the number of pro cards they give out.Last edited by Tu Holmes; 07-08-2013 at 11:38 AM.

The landscape is forever changed. I know of two men in the Phoenix valley who by 1980 standards are top 3 Olympia contenders. Yet they train and sacrifice themselves day in and day out to have one or two stabs a year at the elusive Pro Card. At the same time some genetic gifted doll learns her turns and butt thrusts and she is a freakin Pro first time out and never is seen again. As long as the show halls are fiiled with family and friends of these new and growing womens classes, and the entrants bulge the warm up rooms this will continue. Economics. So be it.

So why do they hand how Pro cards of some of these folks only compete, 2 to 3 times a year. I've seen this year in the TU, that they cut the wbbing out, and why did they do that for? Just askin'? One thing I will say, when I earn my Pro card, I'll be competin' more then 2 to 3 times a year, I know that for sure

Again, the IFBB never explains. But when you cut the prize money for the Ms. O in half & the best competitors drop out, & then the contest sputters & you throw your hands up & say, "Well, it just didn't have it," what do you expect will happen?

Interesting theories.
But if it's a matter of giving cards out so they can fill rosters or just for the annual dues, then they should give more men's BB cards out.

True, maybe the ifbb should re look at figure and bikini and ask " why are we giving these women are prestigious pro card and they not use it" . Giving out pro cards like Halloween candy does not help anything. Waters down the classes, lets turds get on the same stage as men bodybuilders that have trained most their life to look the way they do. Yu can have a worthless bar slut or a nerd dude that looks like a twink gay waiving around a pro card and talking about how awesome they are, trying to give people advice since their pros now . But you got max charles or Kevin Jordan that are still ameteurs.

Don't underestimate the nonbodybuilding categories. At the top of each one, excellent competitors exist. The best bikini competitors work as hard as anyone else in the industry to achieve what they do. If the organization is going to sanction these competitions, they deserve as much respect & attention as anything else going on onstage.
