Excellent choice. Pros = many Cons - storage is a bitch
I like it by the spoonful or in my shakes and I need to buy more.
Don't skimp on quality for price.

I cook with it and also too add it to my shakes. It is great for cutting. You can also try MCT oil as well. It works great too. What are your goals for cutting? How many pounds? And what percent body fat do you want to be at?

^^I would stick to virgin or extra virgin coconut oil as you never know how much processing is done by companies, turning natural fats into trans fats (hydrogenated). Mary Enig publishes stuff on lauric acid and really gives details on the fats in coconut.

I love the stuff but i try to limit it to 30 grams a day. I think its excellent preworkout if you are trying to keep carbs low because i'm not 100% sure on this but i'm pretty sure its digested in the liver and not the small intestine like other fats, also its easily broken down by the body for energy, and i think it increase your metabolism.
Storage sucks in the summer its always liquid over 70 degrees, but if you put it in the fridge it gets like a rock. Meh deal with it.
As far as virgin vs extra virgin. There is no difference at all except the marketing behind extra virgin as a way of tricking consumers into thinking it is better than virgin. While virgin olive oil vs extra virgin olive oil there is a difference. Personally the trader joes brand is the best price you will find anywhere even over huge online supplement sites and it comes in a glass jar. They also just came out with a coconut oil frying spray stuff is the bomb when you want to keep fats super low but need nonstick oil that's not unhealthy and has a descent smoke point 350 i think? If you listened to dave on HMR he once said certain toxins in plastic are fat soluble so over time the plastics leach into the coconut oil its the same for any oil. A glass bottle is always better than plastic. But if you don't care about the plastic vs glass thing then vitamin shoppes store brand is the next best price. And basically every brand i see is organic but it makes sense coconuts are really protected by there outer covering i mean hell the things can fall into the ocean and drift to another island land on the shore and still grow into a new coconut tree.
Oh yeah almost forgot the lauric acid converts into monolaurin in the body which is excellent for immune health.Last edited by soujerz; 07-30-2013 at 11:56 PM.

DO NOT BUY NOW FOODS coconut oil! Nothing against the quality but its hard to keep. You leave it out, it's a mess. Put it in the fridge, its hard as fuck and you have to melt it. And the container turns into a greasy mess. Its a plastic container
