Can you tell me what Burpees do for you? Don't say "Cardio" and don't say "Muscular endurance".....because I would call BS. I know what all the exercises perform will do for me, no one has ever been able to tell me what burpees will do for you except to say " Man they are so HARD"? So are squats....and they build EVERYTHING.

I will say cardio as they are a form of high intensity cardio. Clearly most people who do burpees have a different goal than you or I but that doesn't mean they couldn't be incorporated into bodybuilding or any other sport. Some people walk on treadmills for hours on end, some do sort sessions of wind sprints on bikes, some push prowler sleds. I do not see any reason why couldn't do a few short intense sessions of them instead of slow state cardio. They look a little better when you see someone like Tito Raymond doing them:

I don't have to... I didn't say they were good or bad.
You called them "stupid".
Why are they stupid?
Just because you say so? Why can someone not say "cardio" or "Muscular Endurance"? Why is it BS if someone says that?
Because you say it's BS?
I don't do burpees... I don't give a damn about them one way or the other, but I don't just call things "stupid" because I don't do them or don't lie them.Last edited by Tu Holmes; 08-18-2013 at 11:54 AM.

FIrst off Bootcamp is amazing IF you are not a bodybuilder looking to go into a competition. If Jason does too much bootcamp say goodbye to his muscles and he doesnt have a lot of muscle to begin with and as you can see with his shirt off there is not much muscle at all underneath all that body fat. I have spoken out on Youtube under Jasons vids and said how i feel about the people and what they are doing to Jason, even PJ and Aaron and i got ripped apart by idiot that dont see how fucked up it is that everyone is taking advantage of Jason.

I am on my phone so this is harder to do.......boot camp is for those too stupid to take charge of their own fitness. They need someone else to tell them what time to show up and what to do. Secondly Burpees causean increase in "Intrathoracic" pressure that is why your heart races and your breathing increases, I can explain it better when I am on my laptop.

I'll agree with you on the Boot Camp concept being for people who just can't do it on their own, but at least they are doing something ? Right ?
And when you get time please explain the increase in intrathoracic pressure, because without a rupture or other damage I'm not sure how you would have the ability to increase pressure...and really being that there is a less than atmosphere situation anyways anything could cause an increase in pressure provided there is a rupture

When you do a set of heavy squats or say.......a lot of Burpees there is an increase in your thoracic pressure level that impedes the return of blood to the left side of the heart. When you stop the set or activity your heart beats extra fast and your respiration increase to make up for the decreased O2 level in your body. Once levels return to normal your heart and breathing slow. This does not mean that squats or Burpees are good cardio or burn fat....anymore than just holding your breath and bearing down real hard like you are taking a crap ( this is called a Valsalva maneuver)......which you use to change rythym the of someones heart in an emergency'.situation.
I have been a respiratory therapist for 15 years now.....the above is my bread and butter.

Boot camp fitness type programs in general.......sorry.
Give me someone to train in the gym for 6 months......and you take a group of people to the park for 6 months. Then we will see who had the most dramatic physical change?
Who do you think it would be?
P.s. This is a bodybuilding site....my guess is 98%, or more of your progress was made in the gym...not the park.Last edited by swingslammer; 08-18-2013 at 11:40 PM.

Swing i dont know why its hard to understand most people in this world are not nearly as dedicated as we are to fitness and need the help of others to get in shape. Bootcamp is a great way for people to meet other people and get in shape and have some fun. I run a bootcamp for the residents in my Co-op and they love it and i dont charge much but some of the results of these "normal" people are great and they have made some friends along the way which is also great.
I know what you mean and what you are trying to say but dont be so negative in thinking there is only one way to get it done.
