Path of least resistance if very tempting.

Last I checked they don't give style points for suffering at shows. If you're huge and shredded judges don't care if you had eggs and oats for breakfast or yogurt and froot loops.

Bodybuilding never is, was or will be a meritocracy. In a sport where Genetics are the primary determining factor in many cases, "resistance" is relative.

    4 eras of bofybuilding
    1. Classical- Sandow- Reeves- Bulk up and Train down. Lots if meat, eggs and milk. Ala Carte (no steroid main course).
    2. Pumping Iron. Pearl- Zane. Arnold era. Train high volume, often, sometimes heavy. Steak, fish, Protein powders, potatoes and rice. Dbol on your corn flakes. Deca chaser at the gym.
    3. Techno- Mentzer-Yates
Train heavy. Then heavier. Use good form. Measure your food. 400 mg Deca 50 mg Dbol -up through intro of GH, Insulin, etc. chicken breast,Tilapia, broccolli,
    4. Anti -techno- Bro science Coleman-Heath
"Aint nothing but a Peanut". More Tilapia and Chicken breasts- 6 times a day. Insulin 20 units, GH same- Many bankeuptcies. More chicken breasts- some bodybuilders start to sprout wings..

Last i checked the guys who are huge and shredded worked really hard to get there.
"The lineups at every major show I attended this year had way higher numbers and way lower quality?"

My comment was in reference to Mikes comment on how.
It's all the difficult shit that has to go?

Here we go again with Genetics, yeah genetics play a roll but phil heaths genetics didn't make him Mr. O it was when he implemented hard work with his genetics that he became Mr. O

Don't get me wrong I'm all about training smarter not harder but still at the end of the day hard work pays off. Just look at the majority of the most successful people in the world they got there by working hard not by taking short cuts.

At least we didn't get to references to Nazis & Hitler on this thread. I just read that 40% of threads that go long end up mentioning one or the other.

    All sports are that way
The ones with the best genetics who train the hardest excell
However in some cases those with lesser genetics can compete by training harder than those more gifted but who train less
But the best genetics are what counts the most
A natural 10 second 100 meter sprinter who doesn't train that hard will always be faster than a natural 12 second type now matter how hard he trains

Absolutely what I thought, Ronnie Coleman, Flex Wheeler, Jay cutler, 90's elite bodybuilders all used "relatively effective" bodybuilding diet principles, it's the fags at todays shows that do the real deal. The faggier the better.

I'm not saying this new shit doesn't work, but the statement relatively effective for the only way that has produced legendary bodybuilders is something, I don't know what it is, but it's definitely something.

That would be genetics, not how they ate.

Ronnie put BBQ on everything....that isn't hardcore.

You still have to produce a legendary bodybuilder using these new methods to prove them.

you know...I talked to Mike Mentzer at a seminar in around 1978 or so and his dieting wasnt far off from this fit macro thing y`all are talking about.

I'm not against advances in what we know about training and nutrition. But calling the principles followed by some of the best bodybuilders in history relatively effective while not being able to constantly produce great bodybuilders in the same league as these guys with the other principles just doesn't make any sense to me.

Within the last month, I read on flexonline (http://www.flexonline.com/training/c...e-growth)about a study that showed the higher the cortisol and gh post workout, the higher the growth, and growth was not correlated with the highest amount of testosterone post workout. So I guess this would suggest that volume training is the way to go (ofcourse many would argue that jay cutler and Ronnie could never have done what they did with volume training).
The point I am trying to make with this is - science or no science, scientist or bro scientist, if you cannot produce results while shaming epic results you're an idiot, just ask yourself how many times have we been told to follow principles because in the aim to minimize cortisol at the end of the workout (because infallible scientists told u to do so) while all the time it was cortisol and gh that we were looking for. ( I know too much volume reduces testosterone and is counter productive - I agree)

Those that try to advance what we know I respect (that's the reason dorian yates is my favorite bodybuilder of all time), those that try to ridicule the methods that have consistently produced the best in the sport obviously have mental issues, scientist, dr or fairy princess.
