The Counselor... checking out your review next. Saw that Friday and had mixed feelings about it. Such a sad film. But the whole Boise thing had me mystified. Who couldn't see that coming? How did he not say... well, no spoiler here.
Looking forward to reading or hearing your opinion on the film.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

I heard The Counseler is so bad some reviewers thought they where being pranked.
"I know what your thinking. Did I fire 5 shots or did I fire 6 shots. You gotta ask yourself, Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, Punk?"

Nice review John!
You have a great web site with lot of good reviews about pretty much all the movies of this year.
There is one movie I been hearing about (Liberace) that I see no objective reviews... I remember him from the 60's Batman, looking very flamboyant and eloquent (Awesome pianist). Somebody in the site did a review about it?

I don't understand the bad reviews. I read most of them online and I totally don't agree. "The Counselor" is much better than most of the movies released today. There were some great performances in the movie (Fassbender, Pitt, Bardem and a bunch of smaller roles by great character actors), the story was good (but very dark) and it features one of the most brutal death scenes ever seen in a movie. I thought it was a great film, much better than average.

I was going to see Captain Phillips, but then I watched an interview with the crew members. Captain Phillips isn't the hero he's portrayed to be, so I decided to avoid. I like truth in stories based on actual events. You can Hollywood it a bit (of course), but from what I saw, it's been practically re-written from what actually went down.

Interesting analysis of The Counselor. I originally thought the movie was about 5/10, half hit half miss. After reading your review I realize my high expectations before watching probably affected my overall view of the movie after watching. I do however think Cormac should stick to novels. The dialogue was very convoluted and ended up being pointless philosophical nonsense that seemed to go nowhere (it was however funny and interesting). At least in a novel you can stop and digest the message where watching this I felt always playing catchup, trying to understand the meaning of the dialogue as it related to the movie (which many scenes didnt). Overall 6/10

Re-written is right, the movie pain and gain is one example; the movie had the rock and mark W. as goofy asshole with comical overtures when in real life the real guys were violent, evil, and sadistic...........Hollywood can't have that, the rock and marky mark real bad guys, hell no, they're just........mis-guidance.
