BoriquaVT's Training Journal
hello everyone! this is my first day on the forums and I thought I would start off by creating my training journal. I'm currently 10 days out from my second NPC show, the MetRx Colorado Rocky. My first show was 4 weeks ago and I absolutely loved it. I started the year pushing 150lbs and over 30% body fat. I showed on Oct. 12th at 113lbs and 12%, and placed 6th out of 14 girls in both the bikini novice and open!
my short term goal is to place better than my previous competition and to continue to learn about not only competing, but also what my body is capable of doing. long term goals including competing nationally in 2014.
so for today's official entry for my journal, I am currently doing some lower ab workouts in the morning then a brisk 20 min walk w/ my dog. I haven't had actual cardio in my training plan since Aug. due to my struggle of keeping on weight. Tonight I have an intense leg workout w/ my trainer, followed by HIIT. I'm not sure too much of my diet is going to change since the critique I got from the last show was I came in too lean, but we will play it by how we feel and make changes as needed.
thanks for checking out my post, and any words of wisdom (or just something to help lighten up the day) are welcome!

thanks for the warm welcome everyone! today has been a little tough, woke up w/ a throat ache and stuffy head, definitely picking up what is going around my office. i doubled up on my vitamin C, taking non-drowsy meds and working from home to get some rest. i had an amazing 75 min heavy legs workout last night followed by some HIIT. i was struggling with feeling like i was getting a little 'soft' in my look, but got great support from my gym family that i'm looking fuller and healthier compared to the last show. i'm hoping we are making the tweaks the judges are looking for, but really i just want to love the product that i put on stage in 9 days.
i'm realizing the biggest hurdle i'm having to overcome so far is not the workouts or nutrition, but understand what my body needs to look like to compete. there is a very big different between being super lean and what the bikini judges are looking for. excited to keep learning
here is a pic from my last show.. a little too lean / straight up and down is what i got feedback on Show 3.jpg

woke up today feeling so much more excited and prepared for my upcoming show on Saturday. had a great weekend of workouts and put the finishing touches on my posing during class yesterday. i'm hoping i'm bringing to the table what the judges are looking for (a little less cut and a little more muscle curve) but know i have definitely put in the work that has been asked of me. thankfully there are no major changes this week in regards to pulling carbs / calories and we aren't pulling water, so it's really just sticking to my plan each day and trying to get some good rest!

well ladies, i placed 13th out of 31 girls in the bikini open D class in Colorado's largest NPC competition ever (almost 400 overall competitors!!). it was such an amazing day and even though i didn't place as high as i was hoping, i learned so much about what i brought to the stage and what i need to do for my next show. my trainer surprisedIMG_4457-(ZF-3082-32136-1-002).jpg me after prejudging and came out with my mom who flew in from NY and i had no idea!! such an amazing weekend can't wait to start prepping for 2014!!

well ladies, i have definitely been enjoying my mandatory week off diet. my metabolism has been difficult to control so i'm taking this week off so we are hoping a break from my diet after 10 months helps out a little bit. i start with a new coach on sunday and am very excited for something new. i will still keep my gym and trainers, i can't imagine not having them behind me with all their support, but am going w/ a coach w/ a little more national level experience.
kind of funny how when you are trying to cheat on your diet, it is harder than when you are supposed to be strict.. guess that is part of the game
