Chelsea Competes: My Journey From A "Normal Girl" to an NPC Bikini Competitor!
Hi everyone! Thank you for checking out my training journal.
A little bit about me and my goals: I grew up on Oahu, Hawaii and now live in San Diego, California. I am an attorney and have been practicing in the civil litigation battlefield for 3 years. I am "mom" to a 2.5 year-old Yorkie! I am 10 weeks out from my first NPC bikini competition, the San Diego Championships. I am being coached by the lovely IFBB Bikini Pro Diana Becker and am a proud new member of Team Bronzed Divas, based out of Seattle, Washington.
My fitness history: I have never been very athletic. As a young girl I was skinny and weak, and I was always picked last for the teams in gym class. As I got older I lived the typical "party girl" lifestyle in college and beyond. Around my mid-20's the pounds started packing on. I knew nothing about weights, clean eating, or fitness. My eating habits were that of a typical American - infrequent huge, unhealthy meals. In 2009, however I began dating a competitive bodybuilder. I began training with him and living the bodybuilding lifestyle, and fell in love with it.
Why I decided to compete: After about 2 years of training inconsistently and off-and-on clean eating, I began dreaming of competing in bikini. I was afraid, however and didn't think I could handle contest prep, or that my physique could ever reach that level. Then, last year, I went through something very devastating in my personal life. After a couple months of being a complete wreck, I pulled myself back together with the help of family, friends, and my coach, and essentially said, "f@%& it, I'm going to do a show. I'm going to make me a priority and chase my dream." And so here I am!
Goals for my training journal: I hope to use this journal to keep me motivated and on track with my prep and to get to know other competitors and bodybuilding/fitness enthusiasts. I came here in the hopes that I can become part of an active, supportive community and I really look forward to getting to know everyone.

Yikes! Sorry guys - will have to figure out how to quote from different posts in one post. I'm sure it's not that complicated; I'm just bad at this kind of stuff.
Long day at work today. Feeling a little tired, but gearing up to train legs tonight. We are putting lots of emphasis on hammies and booty on leg day. I also train hammies alone on Wednesday and glutes alone on Friday.
Alternating between feeling great about my progress, and completely freaking out and thinking that I won't be ready. I can swing back and forth any number of times in a given day. Is this normal? Haha.

Hi! Thank you. I'm excited to be here!
Went to sleep way too late last night. Didn't want to get up for cardio this morning, but I did anyway. Go me! I have a heavy week at work with some traveling involved toward the end of the week. I feel tired just thinking about it - even more tired than I feel right now. Finishing up my fifth meal of the day, then heading to the gym to train back and chest. Back is hard for me to train because I haven't got the mind-muscle connection down yet, but I'm trying.

It's only 9:30 and I think I could fall asleep right now and sleep through the night. Not sure why I am feeling so tired this week! I sleep around 7 - 7.5 hours a night during the week, and I feel like that should be enough. But maybe not. I love sleeping 9 hours a night.
I was supposed to train shoulders and arms tonight - my favorites - but I think I am just going to go to bed. I had to work late and traffic sucked. Wah. Will save a training sesh for Saturday then, which is just as well because I have no social life right now anyway and no plans on Saturday. So I will probably sleep in, do some work, groceries/food prep, and train.

I feel you, I was supposed to get up this morning and train back and biceps but between the rain and cold, I couldn't do it. I am going to do Saturday and Sunday to make up for it. I fell asleep watching tv with my boyfriend at like 10 (like he literally rocked me to sleep lol). I'm drained.

Been pushing myself a little bit these last couple of weeks. My body has been feeling very tired and my motivation lacking a bit, but I have been keeping my head down and pushing forward, getting all of my meals, cardio, and training in. My weight has stayed pretty consistent, around 112-114 pounds since prep began 5 weeks ago. My waist has come down 3 inches to 26 inches, which I am happy about (especially since this happened over the holiday season)! My coach says that she is seeing significant changes in my body now, so that is my motivation to keep sticking to my plan and keep going.
8 weeks out right now! Just booked my day-of tanning, hair, and makeup artist this morning. And finally chose my suit which is a gorgeous deep metallic purple with scattered crystals. I'm so excited!!!
