Default This Is What Happens When A Kid Leaves Traditional Education

Logan Laplante is a 13 year-old boy who was taken out of the education system to be home schooled instead. Not only was he home schooled, but Logan had the ability to tailor his education to his interests and also his style of learning, something traditional education does not offer. As Logan has mentioned, when he grows up he wants to be happy and healthy. At a TEDx talk in 2013, he discussed how hacking his education is helping him achieve that goal.

I don't see a problem with this kid or his message.... probably expensive as hell to do this... wish I could have been schooled this way... schools don't really provide a great learning environment imo...

If you look at who scores highest in most of the stupid national test and then you also have the spelling B....3/4 of those kids are home schooled.

This was a really cool thought-provoking video. If I was attending school today, I'd definitely want to be home schooled.

But he mentions surviving in the wilderness with just a knife and spending snowy nights camping out. lol I totally bet he packs a lunch!

This is an insanely bright kid ! I would imagine he would have been bored to tears in an avg classroom and might have gotten in some mischief ... I commend his parents! As a teacher, I always said my job was to make my students feel happy in the classroom so they could learn ... the curriculum was there. That was always the key! How kids felt was most important.
I just wonder about SOCIAL SKILLS when you home school ??? However, with all the bullying, crazy shootings, etc... it definitely makes one think about home schooling???

It's probably easy to survive in the wilderness with just a knife when you know that if something bad happens someone knows exactly where you are and will be there shortly.

You sound like someone I would have enjoyed as a teacher.

Many opportunities for social skills to be developed outside of school. Churches, community sports leagues, Scouts, 4-H, and more.

There is no such thing as a Godly school.

I would recommend the Ordained Christian school as they may grow up with some spellin' issues or somethin' much worse being home schooled.

You must be doing that on purpose.
