Winner, winner! You are correct.

Yup, the late great tuffy Tuefel. Never was able to cope with the fact he never won the AAU Mr. America.

He coped by coming back again and again. It's a subjective sport and Pearson was (is) a tremendous athlete, but for my money it was like a teenager versus the Farnese Hercules. Teuf for the win.

I think Ron was under the impression he was losing points due to the Tat, he would have done anything to win the Mr America title.

It wasn't an impression. It was much more like a directive. Oscar State was outspoken in his disapproval of tattoos. He's not alone. Imagine Schwarzenegger, Nubret or Oliva with ink. I can't.

That said, I always liked Teufel's skull and dagger and his TEUF on his knuckles, too.

I don't know about Teufel, but Ray Mentzer was a member of the 30 pin club at Ephrata High School. Mike and Ray both attended EHS.
