ARTICLE: A Light Goes Out Over Bodybuilding....By: John Hansen
A Light Goes Out Over Bodybuilding
At the Arnold Classic this year, a feeling of melancholy came over me and never left all weekend. A sense of dread permeated the air, leaving me to feel depressed and sad as the weekend wore on.
The famous movie star Bette Davis once said, “Getting old is not for sissies.” It’s inevitable that time will move on. We will all get old and die and the people around us will do the same. Nothing stays the same, change is constant.

In the next ten years, just imagine the devastation... the legends who will likely pass. :-(

There are a few who I know a general age bracket, but many don't have the opportunity or the desire to reveal their age. I'll be 52 this summer. Ten years will see me approaching 62. Grandfather died at 61 of leukemia, but all my other grandparents passed at age 87.
My grandmother told me the doctors gave my grandfather six months to live. He made double that. Not to be a downer as much as a realist, but what would you do given six months?Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

My uncle is in his sixties. He's like a big brother/father figure to me. We've joked that everyone is marching off a cliff. Some race ahead while others move a lot slower, but we're all going off that cliff's edge.
(But the sci-fi fan in me expects there are at least one or two immortals out there. Lol :-) Who else saw the movie Hancock? Hansen, you must have!)Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

Yeah, I was thinking about that too when I heard he died yesterday. He was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame over the weekend and then is part of WrestleMania on Monday and he dies the next day. That is so crazy. I'll bet he never thought in his wildest dreams that he would be dead after reaching such a high point in his life.

Did you listen to the one YouTube that was posted? I think he might have known something was up. He spoke of directly to death and living on through stories told during his speech.
I found the text of his speech online @ http://www.ibtimes.com/did-ultimate-...al-wwe-1569482
"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them bleed deeper in something than larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend-makers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back, I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. I am Ultimate Warrior. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans. And the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever!”*
*The text at that URL was incorrect and I've edited it a bit. Cry foul if you must ;-), but double-check the audio versus what is written at that link provided above.
