WBO Champion Ruslan Provodnikov To Take On Chris Algieri For World Title At Coliseum
June 14th live on HBO from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island NY WBO Jr Welterweight knock out artist Ruslan Provodnikov will put his title on the line against local underdog, undefeated Chris Algieri.
I have posted about Algieri here in the past as he has climbed the ranks. Many have downplayed Chris saying his 39 pro fights without a loss mean nothing because 20 were in pro kickboxing (despite him never losing while winning 2 World Titles in 2 different weight classes) and his 19 pro boxing wins without a loss were against nobody etc. Winning against a 17-1 top 10 ranked fighter last month as main event on ESPN's Friday Night Fights wasnt good enough either etc....so here it is. A HUGE challenge!! One of THE best boxers in the world, WBO World Champ Ruslan Provodnikov (with 75% of his victories coming by way of knock out) who is 1 fight away from fighting Manny Pacquiao, is taking on Algieri with his World Title on the line and Long Island's Algieri will be a HEAVY underdog to try and extend his unbeaten streak as a pro fighter to 40 wins.
Chris is a guy I have admired for awhile because of how he carries himself. Reminds me of other friends of mine in other sports like big Evan Centopani in bodybuilding. Humble hard working guy who doesnt miss any steps along the way and loves the detailed day in and day out grind like most great Champions do. Anyone from the NY Tri State area come out to Nassau Coliseum and show some support for this man who is on the verge of greatness. Boxing is a unique sport where you go from fighting for peanuts to fighting for millions overnight. Chris is literally one fight away from making that big step and of course it wont be easy. Hes a good dude and I hope local athletes come out to show their support and attend the HBO televised event on June 14th at the Coliseum. Press conference will be next week.

Algeiri Has been on ESPN's friday night fights a couple of times. Dude can box very well, moves and throws punches in quick combination, entertaining to watch.
Provodnikov is a monster though. This is a huge step up in competition for algeiri. I wish you friend all the best in this fight. If he can stay on the backfoot and potshot, he can take a decision in this fight.....if he tries to trade with provodnikov, it wont end well for him.
regardless, it should be an entertaining fight.

I didn't score the fight while watching it. I'll do so later this week, but Chris Algeri has balls that would fit a heavyweight. Kudo's to him. If I were him, I'd do the rematch before moving on. Reason being, is that I feel like it will be easy money for him next time. He should get north of 500k for a rematch and then he can move on to Manny or Danny Garcia. I can't pick him against Manny, but it says here he gives Danny Garcia pure hell and I love Danny Garcia.
