    Smile Megan Trimmer's Training Journal

Today was my rest day, although I did do my morning cardio in preparation of my next show on May 31, 2014. This rest day I decided to go get a massage.

I think rest is just as important as training. Massage therapy on your day off can be a great way to reactivate the muscles and refresh your body. Massage therapy gives you the ability to regenerate the muscles and tissues in your body to keep your body going strong and your mind at rest!

I try to get a massage at least once a month. Especially during competition season when your body's under a tremendous amount of stress. So often we get so focused on seeing our bodies change that we over work it to the point of absolute fatigue and exhaustion. And although that is expected, depending on the season, be sure to take the time to heal and recover your body with valued rest days!

Don't get me wrong... I can't wait to train legs tomorrow! Have a great day ladies!!! Act like a lady, lift like a boss!

Post Megan_Trimmer's Training Journal - Legz for Dayz

Today was leg day. I just love it when there's no one on the leg machines in the gym on my leg day! I find the least amount of people work out legs on Tuesday's and Friday's!

    My leg training for today:

10 min warm-up on stationary bike

Quad extensions: DROPSET - 4 sets, 60 reps/set - feet position straight for 20 reps, feet positioned inward (pigeon-toed) for 20 reps, and feet positioned outward for 20 reps per set.

Hack Squat: 4 sets of 20 reps - bar weight

    Leg Press: DROPSET - 2 sets, 20 reps; Single-legged DROPSET - 2 sets, 12-16 reps

Sumo Squat: 4 sets, 20 reps

Single-legged Hamstring curl: DROP SET - 4 sets, 20 reps

Sitting Calves: 3 sets, 60 reps - feet position straight for 20 reps, feet positioned inward (pigeon-toed) for 20 reps, and feet positioned outward for 20 reps per set.

    Abs:
hanging leg raises - 5 sets of 10 reps
    ab-crunch machine - 5 sets of 20 reps

    #6.5 weeks out!

    Lightbulb Questioning yourself

    IMG_4107.jpg
Being a competitor I often criticize myself, my training, and my diet. Am I training hard enough? Am I working at 110% efficiency? Am I working hard enough to place and reach my goals?

It's especially hard to deal with when you don't feel that you're seeing the same results others are or when you're not seeing results as fast as you thought you would. Something that I've been telling myself recently is that no matter what you're feeling, trust the process. You need to trust that what you're doing is going to get you to the next level. As long as you don't give up and you keep pushing, your training and discipline will show through. Every body is different. Every one doesn't use the same "supplements."

In this business many women get overwhelmed with the tasks of being beautiful and trying to find a balance with their muscle definition. How much is too big? How much is too much definition? At the end of the day, you are the only person left to answer to. As long as you are happy with yourself, that's all that matters at the end of the day.

So stay encouraged, stay focused, stay disciplined, train your ass off and that is your ultimate success. Your level of self-satisfaction is the real victory. No one can take that away from you.

Thank you for saying that. It's a constant struggle when you don't feel like things are moving fast enough with progress, you're friends don't quite understand, and society thinks a certain way. This has been quite a journey so far and I look forward to everything that's going to happen, I'm just trying not to get anxious about where I think I should be.

    THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.
Sometimes I feel like I have two or three different lives. I have my school life where I'm constantly engaged in deeper thinking and testing my knowledge on leadership and business management.
I have my life at work where I've lately just been doing my 9-5. I'm not happy or engaged at work any more and I feel that I need an immediate change of pace or I'm going to go crazy!
And then there's my favorite life, my life spent training hard in the gym and developing new meals and recipes to keep me in preparation for competition; my life that helps others pursue their dreams, provides them with advice and techniques that will take them to the next level of self-development and self-discovery.
I'm still struggling to balance all of my lives. My passion is in fitness but the struggle with making a decent paycheck and benefits at work is difficult for me to overcome.
This is why I continue my education; this is why I push myself everyday in the gym to achieve my goals and my dream. I push myself in hopes that someday my passion will become my career and I'll never have to work a day in my life because when you love what you do you'll never feel like you're working a day in your life.

I love this "quote" and it is true..but I must tell you...I am INSANELY passionate about my career, I have obtained a high level of education and their are days that I want to quit and walk away instead of returning the next day. Any job you have, no matter how "passionate" about it you are, will still be hard! It will still seem like work!

Hey! Right now I'm training about 6 days a week. I do cardio in the morning 3 times a week for about 30-45min max. I'm in the process of bulking so not too big on cardio right now as I am in lifting heavy weights! How about you?

I fractured my calcaneus and had surgery in July to get a plate and 9 screws put in. I have been out of the gym for a long time and won't be able to return for a year or so while I re learn to walk again. Its a LONG healing process and besides your femur the worst bone in your body to break!!!!
