I agree with most of what you said in calling out the writer's editorialism. And I might add I'm tired of this new psychology being shoved in my face. Until I see a toddler girl standing up to pee and a little boy constantly wanting to sit on the toilet then the jury is still out about all this. Until science shows me some new chromosomes mixing in the embryo then I say the brain is what needs to be examined. I still reeling over the whole pregnant man story.

Here you go Curt.....
http://ajs.sagepub.com/content/23/6/694.short
Possible causative factors for this increase in anterior cruciate ligament injuries among women may be ex trinsic (body movement, muscular strength, shoe- surface interface, and skill level) or intrinsic (joint lax ity, limb alignment, notch dimensions, and ligament size).
http://ajs.sagepub.com/content/42/4/965.abstract
The percentage of females with patellofemoral knee pain was approximately 3 times greater than that of males (14.3% vs 4.0%, respectively; P < .001). Sports injuries in young males and females differed by injury type, diagnosis, and body area.
http://www.jaaos.org/content/21/1/41.abstract
The rate of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is three times higher in female athletes than in male athletes. Intrinsic factors such as increased quadriceps angle and increased posterior tibial slope may predispose girls and women to ACL injury. Compared with males, females have smaller notch widths and smaller ACL cross-sectional area.

Objective: To determine the relationship of previous lower extremity (LE) injury and/or low back pain (LBP) on hip abduction and extension strength.
Main Outcome Measures: Mean and maximal hip abduction and extension strengths were recorded using a specially designed dynamometer anchoring station. Previous injury to the LE or LBP in the past year was recorded via personal interview at the time of screening and verified by review of previous injury records.
Conclusion: Female athletes appear to have a differing response of the proximal hip musculature to LE injury or LBP, as compared with their male counterparts. Research is under way to further validate these findings.
Curt, these are all from Journals of Sports medicine. This is JUST lower body and knees. Everyone who has trained knows there are more differances in the UPPER body of males and females than the LOWER bodies. I have heard many times that male and female strength in the lower body can get close to being comparable....not so in the upper body.
My wife could leg press 800 pounds for 8/10 GOOD reps but could never bench 135? These things don't just change with the addition or subtraction of some hormones.
Ok, I did some research....maybe I should write for RX?Gone but not forgotten, I remember you too Dookie!

Popcorn ready. But that boy says he's a girl now so science as we know it does not apply. NOT! When a forensic scientist performs an autopsy the facts will still say male.
So no, he should not be allowed to compete with women. Perhaps transgenders need their own cross fit division.

Curt, I read your link...there was NOTHING on there about male or female? It just spoke of muscle in general?

Curt, honey there are numerous studies done on the differences between male and female athletes. Perhaps the bone angle is a just a theory but physiology explains why most girls cant dunk, even when height is equal.

I am a Respiratory Therapist....which requires anatomy courses, a female pelvis/hips are most certainly wider than a males therefore changing the angle of a womans femors leaving the pelvis. I.e. a mans legs come down to his feet straighter than a womans do, II vs V, Angle of the legs coming out of the hip bones.
P.S. I am on the night shift tonight...and we are not too busy.Last edited by swingslammer; 04-22-2014 at 02:43 AM.

Just so you know I am not limiting myself to the lower leg....let me hit you with the spine!
http://journals.lww.com/spinejournal...Pelvic.26.aspx
Study Design. A three-dimensional analysis of spino-pelvic alignment in 60 asymptomatic young adult males and females.
Objectives. To analyze the differences in sagittal spino-pelvic alignment in a group of asymptomatic young adult males and females and describe gender specific reference values.
Conclusion. These results indicate that the female spine is definitely different from the male spine. The spine as whole and individual vertebrae in certain regions of the normal spine is more backwardly inclined in females than in males. Based on our previous research this signifies that these spinal regions are subjected to different biomechanical loading conditions. These vertebral segments are possibly less rotationally stable in females than in males.
I seriously think I am just going to keep going and going until someone says "OK, I will give you that males and females have physiological differance" !
I could really care less if you want to change your sex, just don't tell me your body will not be differant than someone born of the sex you want to change in to.
Don't pee on my leg and tell me it is raining.Last edited by swingslammer; 04-22-2014 at 02:55 AM.

If your DNA says your a man your a man no matter what you look like on the outside and should be forbidden to compete in women's sports.
