I agree 100% with what you said, I feel there are way too many guys in this sport who "live the lifestyle" no matter what the cost. Most of the time, these are young guys and they're trying to hark back to the 70s and 80s era where you had guys who all they did was bodybuilding and lived the lifestyle, muscle beach, the original venice golds and world gym etc.
The thing that I learned is that you need to make sure you're financially well-off to even pursue this in the first place. It's an expensive sport as I'm sure most of us know and a lot of times, it's out of your own pocket and you need to think about that first and see where you see yourself going with it. Competing only makes it even more expensive.
You need to be financially in a good spot, period

As a natural, this hobby has been quite inexpensive for me.
Let's see the bills:
Food: 150 bucks a week (which could be even cheaper if I needed it to be)
Protein powder (not used much): 30 to 40 bucks every two or more weeks
Gym membership: 30 to 50 bucks a month, depending on where I've gone
I don't count stuff like chalk, belts, wraps because they last for a very long time.
I believe what makes it so damn expensive is the drug bill and the lack of money from a real, full time, stable job, a lack that would make everything SEEM or FEEL expensive.
But then there's the conundrum. Many jobs don't allow for one to scurry away into an office every two hours to eat and chug shakes every two hours or to always come and go as they please. And then there's that pesky alarm clock that one might have to wake up to with less than eight hours of beauty sleep each night and sometimes some extra time needed to stay at work which can sometimes have one missing workouts. I can only imagine how many less zombie-like workouts I could have had if it weren't for this pesky thing called work.Last edited by BrickHead; 04-24-2014 at 03:22 PM.

I'm sorry...are you making the point that since very few become successful that no one should try?
MOST people won't ever do anything that isn't very average.
If you want to make sure you never succeed...then don't try.
I am glad I never thought of things in my life that way. I was one of the few from my neighborhood to not go to jail or be dead by now. I should have done like everyone else.

Natural means no testosterone added to your system from outside sources or hormonal influence.
You aren't natural....and seriously, you didn't add your own drug bill into your previously stated finances...which is strange since you mentioned drug prices for other bodybuilders.
How much is your own drug bill?
