This is coming from a guy that forgot to drink milk growing up, look what happen to his knees. They snapped in half. Sounds like a wannabe tough guy, with the tattoos and beard. Brandon lillypad needs to shut up.

    GENETICS ARE REAL

    hope this helps

Agreed with both posts, but it's pretty obvious that Brandon Lilly would agree that the best result comes from someone with physical gifts who also puts in consistent intense work over a long period of time. Didn't he state as much in the video?

It's a good video.. The only thing I don't understand is that he is talking about genetics but then relaying it with powerlifting. I don't believe genetics has anything to do with powerlifting.. Fat, skinny, tall, short, black or white .. When you look at the history of powerlifting or strongman there is no genetic factor that makes one better than the other.. Bbing, genetics is at least 35% of what you need.. The rest is drugs, and hard work.

    What?

    ge·net·ics (jə-nĕt′ĭks)
    n.
    1. (used with a sing. verb) The branch of biology that deals with heredity, especially the mechanisms of hereditary transmission and the variation of inherited characteristics among similar or related organisms.
    2. (used with a pl. verb) The genetic constitution of an individual, group, or class.

I can deadlift more than many people simply due to my genetics or inherited characteristics... arms that are seemingly eight miles long. Then you have your barrel-chested benchers whose arms are stubs... ROM is, what, two centimeters?

    Got inherited characteristics?

    What do you consider genetics?

Hard work + physical gifts = legend

That inner drive seems like a gift as well. Not everyone has it.

boo fucking hoo...That may be the best quote in this video. Powerlifting is made easier with good genetics, but I do agree with him that most people use poor genetics as an excuse not to train hard and make excuses for their poor performance.

    Here's what I mean ....
    image.jpg
    6ft1 mariusz
    image.jpg
    6ft8 shaw

both excellent in strongman , but their body types make certain lifts easier for each of them. 1 event might be "made" for shaw while mariusz can't do it very well .. That's what I meant.. No matter what your genetics are, powerlifting/strongman can be a sport for you .

genetics are everything in sport for example mariusz was super fast on farmers walk shaws built for atlas stones and fingles fingers, mariusz had better endurance than shaw when it came to reps just giving you a scenario, dmx that's why we are all different and some people are better than others, its all genetics bro

Genetics are the difference between good and great. I have been involved (competing or coaching) track and field for over 20 years. You learn very quickly that genetics will ultimately determine the level of success in any sport. Amazing genetics + good work ethic destroys good genetics and amazing work ethic every time.

But genetics are not everything when it comes to strongman.. If so , what is the perfect " build" ? What is the genetic gift for a strongman . There are plenty of sports that genetics are not the number 1 factor. And IMO strongman is one of them . If I'm white, I will never be an Olympic level 100m dash sprinter. If I'm 7ft tall, my odds of NBA dreams are better. If I was born with Phil Heath blood in me, I have an edge in the bodybuilding world . Strongman you can be short, fat, tall , lean, black, white, slow, fast , dumb, smart etc... Hard work and technique will beat genetics in power lifting and strongman ...

I see what you're saying now. Yes, Strongman competitors and powerlifters can be short, fat, tall, lean, etc. There's no appearance requirement for success in these sports.

But I also agree with inkedleo88's comment, "Amazing genetics + good work ethic destroys good genetics and amazing work ethic every time."
