Bodybuilder doing powerlifting in offseason
Hi all,
I'm sure it's been asked before but I'm a bodybuilder actually 6 weeks out from competition currently, and I'm looking to powerlift in offseason to help build more thick dense muscle. I know there will be many benefits powerlifting in the offseason and I'd actually like to do a meet for the hell of it, just trying to see the best way to go about mixing the two.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

To be effective in powerlifting, I believe you have to train for strength solely in order to reach maximum potential.
I suggest watching Mark Bell videos, Louis Simmons Videos, and Donnie Thompson Videos. All three of these men have written great articles. I prefer Westside training(The Conjugate Method). I believe it will help you in bodybuilding because of the way it helps your muscles get more dense.
It may appear on paper when you look at the training, that you wont be training as hard. I promise you that the conjugate method is as intense as it comes and it will stress your cns.DON'T BE AVERAGE!!!

There are may good powelifting programs out there. Check out Wendler's 531 and The Lilliebridge method. Both are fairly simple and will increase your strength.
Welcome to the dark side!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to do more research the things your suggested. Like I mentioned my main focus is thickening up and adding more muscle density, also extra added strength wouldn't hurt either.

I should also mention Brandon Lilly's Cube method.

I've been doing Wendler's 531 for over a year now. With the exception of three months off due to a broken foot, I've made progress on every cycle.

I like the Max OT system. An excellent way to put on size and strength.

Do you guys think raw, single ply or multi ply is best for a bodybuilder. Say walking around at off season weight of 230-240

Start light, progress slowly, practice good tecnique, eat well. That's the best advice I can give.
