    Default 1st cycle - Anavar 10mg split AM/PM

I am on day 3 of 5mg AM and PM (10 mg/day), this is my first cycle. I will only be running it for 5 weeks, at which point I will be 2 weeks out of being possibly tested. Debating if I should give myself 3 weeks for it to clear, but also not sure if 4 weeks of var would be worth it, other than to see how sensitive I am to sides.

Lifting history of 4 years solid training, no history of AAS use. I am more interested in strength gains, and for this particular short cycle to keep scale weight down (weight class) and hopefully increase strength/recovery in the gym. Especially upper body, as I am still recovering from an old injury and old bench #'s still not reached. After these 5 weeks on/off, I will go on a longer cycle (depending on how this goes) while eating at a surplus.

Today was my first gym session since starting, but have not noticed any strength changes aside from those usually expected at this point in my training. Was hoping for, but not really expecting any increase this early on. Noticed as of yesterday and also today that I'm not as hungry as I usually am (srsly, I'm hungry even bulking on 3k+ cals), and today seemed to feel more "refreshed" in general and less DOMS.

I was cutting at 2400 cals from the mid-160s (5'6") from about Jan, hit 148 in April and pretty much maintained there for a month. Ate a whole lot just over a week ago with graduation celebrations, etc and while I'm mainly still holding water, know I put on probably 1-2lb of fat as well (I can eat TONS). I lose compliance when I'm close to goal, and need to buckle down and stay at or below 148, though I know with var I may hold more water and will take that into consideration and that I will drop some during my 2-3 weeks off.

If the more experienced ladies can give input on what kind of short/long term progress I can get based on recent pics, that would be cool. I probably won't leave these up for long, though.

    April, 148lb, about 15.5% BF

Thanks for reading, and any input appreciated

I think you have to start by weighing the importance of failing a drug test. The detection time of anavar is 3 weeks. Of course short of you doing your own test first, no one can guarantee exactly when it will be clear. If this DQ's you from a tested event, do you become labeled as "failed drug test"? Does that stay on your "record" and get published somewhere that can affect your rep? IMO I don't thin that's worth it to risk this for an extra week of what I would consider a too-short cycle anyway. It takes ~10-14 days for var to "get established" so don't spend your time looking for "results" so soon into a cycle.

I'm not totally clear what your intent was to an ultra short cycle so close before a tested event but I feel like saying whatever you were expected to gain from it for 4-5 weeks is probably not all that amazing. I would honestly tell you to drop the cycle now and be guaranteed a clean test and then you can start the cycle any time after that - assuming you're not getting tested again. JMHO. I"m not a big proponent of cycling in a tested sport, but your risk, your choice. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply! Regarding the event - it's a little odd as this fed as a whole is not tested at all, and there are "well known" users lifting at the high levels in it. However, for this particular local venue under the same fed, they mention they are subject to testing for some reason. As far as I can tell, there would be no blacklisting other than if you do test hot you would not be able to keep any placing you may have made at that time.

While I realize that I would not get optimal results from the short amount of time, if I could put 5-10 pounds on my total over training without var, that would still be a big benefit for me. I'm not looking for mass gains right now, just keeping/increasing strength while staying within weight. Would that modest goal be a feasible possibility? Would doing a short cycle now affect me negatively over the long-term, such as reducing possible gains in a longer future cycle? If it's completely pointless I will surely just drop it and save for a later/longer cycle.

    Appreciate the response

Certainly nobody dies if you decide to do it. I think any effect is really just going to come out in the wash you will be putting your body thru 3 back to back rounds of hormone flux (up, down, up) over that period of time. Personally I think it will end up being borderline irrelevant. You might confirm whats up w/ the random testing tho if it seems different from the rules. I guess you can choose to or not. Any real impact is transient until you get into a true, longer cycle where your body has a chance to adapt to the presence of this extra shit in your body and the hormone flux, and then can subsequently have the muscles and the surrounding soft tissue complexes adapt to the changes.

Thanks for the candor, sassy, I appreciate your input And for pointing out that the short-term cycle won't really be giving me any meaningful impact like a full cycle would.

Pitbull - Thanks for that too!

I'm certainly not an "experienced lady" and Sassy has been helping me a lot on my cycle....but I have read anything I could find on var cycles before I started my own. I'm 5 weeks in as of today. I have noticed some considerable increases in the weight I've been lifting. It sounds like this is what your goal is on the cycle. But....I know I have read that some people feel lethargic after they finish their cycle. Not sure if this would happen or not...so it might hurt what you are trying to accomplish.
