Thread: I heard bananas are bad for you?

Based on the OP, the poster admittedly overheard another patient, then HE asked the doctor about bananas. The Doctor, who seemingly didn't reveal info about the first patient, merely explained that bananas were bad in a general sense, not that they were bad for a specific type of individual. This led to some interesting discussion in this thread.
I'm sure if someone wanted to they could mention how MDs have only one class on nutrition, or how it's usually an outdated text (and yes, I have MD friends who freely acknowledge this), but I don't think anyone really wants to make this a bash-the-md-thread. I know that I'm just here to read about bananas, not pick apart one specific doctor or one specific piece of advice.
Based on what was presented it's been a nice read. You may feel the need to defend a doctor you don't know when we're not even discussing him, but the rest of us are just speaking on the advice that was relayed.

Gee stu, I'm pretty sure most doctors know about potassium and the heart and kidneys.
It doesn't take years of nutrition focused training to know that.
I am not sure why you would see the doctor as being at fault at all....As if the op is infallible.
