This week is not turning out well --- I went to see a new chiro on Monday, literally begging him to push one of my ribs back into place. It tends to pop out when my right shoulder (the bum one) gets irritated. Following x-rays, I was also informed I have some aggressive arthritis in my neck and well on my way to having fused vertebrae. Thus begins more visits to the chiro and a lot of icing this week. To avoid the fusing and reverse the process, I get to invest in a cervical traction device and basically weight my head back for 8 min / day for the next 1-2 years.

Do you have some arthritis on your finger joints or are you showing signs of it?

What kind of device has your chiro recommended?

Nope. This is more a structural thing - my neck curves in the wrong direction. It's probably always been like that, but w/ age, it is probably starting to show the stress. Altho I've had my shoulder issue for a good 4 years, I've never really had neck issues until very recently. I'd even bet the period of time packing to move, driving down to AZ and unpacking contributed a lot to the aggravation in the last 6 months.

but the doc says to just lay, like at the end of the bed, but not w/ your head hanging over as far as pictured.

I also have an odd neck curve, well actually my neck does not have a natural curve at all. My Chiropractor called it a "military neck". Causes a lot of tension in my shoulders and upper traps. If I don't remind myself to push my shoulders down I look like I'm in a contracted "shrug" position all the time.
I have a head/neck devise too, but mine hangs from the doorway. It's really hard to use esp when my kids are home.

I set my alarm 10 min before I need to get up, set up the head sling over the side of the bed and just keep sleeping until its over. The only problem is that I get up to get all the stuff adjusted before starting the 8 min "hang time" and my cats think they're going to get fed - so instead they sit on my bed looking at me w/ disgust for 8 minutes. And THEN they can get their morning munchies.
