To answer your question, though, I looked to Wikipedia:

IFBB Pro Victor Martinez was arrested on returning to the U.S. on October 9, 2011, after winning the Arnold Europe in Madrid, Spain. Instead, he was sent to a detention center in New Jersey to await a deportation hearing that could have sent him back to his native Dominican Republic. He was denied bail. A few of the documents were not in order, and his final hearing was postponed until April 2012. He was held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in South Kearny, New Jersey. On April 27, he returned to court and was released from jail and permitted to remain in the U.S.

Martinez was incarcerated for immigration violations.

How crazy is that given the current events?

I apologize for answering disrespectfully or with the wisecrack. Guess I'm looking at the situation with my fanboy glasses. Do recall stories like that, rumors, but from people who've had more experience with him than five seconds at an expo hall getting an autograph, I suspect.

I wish no ill will on the man. I wish him the best. However when someone is arrested on federal charges as an "illegal" people ask these questions. As for his business dealings, I won't speak for others.

I'm people too ...and I generally stick to "what did he do wrong". Being here as an "illegal" doesn't exactly equal "shady"....but hey, whatever keeps that rumor mill a'turnin.
